Not a fan of the bumble bee tbh.
So that will be Jota on the left then, so I guess we won't see much more of Yang.
    Bless him. :BR1:

Bumblebee kit reminds me of Mowbrays season. Think it's the most I can recall us ever wearing an away kit.

Or maybe the awful results are just engraved in my mind.

There was just something about this guy where it always seemed like he might end up back here. I know people are saying he's not been in form since moving to Rennes but I reckon he can find at least that level again with us. Honestly reckon he'll come firing out the gates for us.

With Jota’s ability to cover both wings, we could have a rotation where Maeda Kuhn and Jota each start 2 games out of every 3.
Game 1. LW Maeda RW Kuhn
Game 2. LW Jota RW Kuhn
Game 3. LW Maeda RW Jota

Every 3rd game one of them gets a rest, or comes off the bench.
That keeps everyone happy and avoids fatigue. While we don’t lose any quality in the starting lineup.
Then we can use Forrest (and maybe Yang) as back up.

    SIDEBAR:

To cap this off, so can get this thread back onto Jota, let's just end this debate right here...

Please don't let this be true. That kit is a jinx. Any season that has been our Away kit, we have never won a thing.

    1996/97

Remember, this is just after 1995/96, when Celtic went through the entire league season and lost just 1 game... still lost the league, but even still, for the 90's era that stands out.We were close. Had the 3 Amigos (Cadete, Di Canio & PvH) in full flow, had McStay, Collins & Grant running MF and Tommy Burns overseeing it all.

Roll on 96/97 and the bumblebee however...

The use of the 'Away' Bumblebee appears to be somewhat arbitrary. Away kits should be for games where there is a clash of normal tops, but now there is more money and marketing in producing and wearing away just as much... But in this season, for example, Celtic wore their normal Home Hoops kit when they played Aberdeen at Pittodrie in August, but then wore the bumblebee at Pittodrie in December. So had to actually go through the archives for each game...

Celtic in Bumblebee: W6 D4 L4 (All Comps)

Among the 6 wins included Cup games against lower league: Clyde (LC) & Clydebank (SC).

Oh, and we also lost Paul McStay that season to ankle troubles at age 32. Not saying the Bumblebee had anything to do with it, but one of my last memories of the Maestro that srason was of him hobbling around on that bad ankle and wearing that... although not his last game v Raith, where he went off about 10 min into the game, with a groin strain.

    2009/10 - Bumblebee worn: W10 D3 L6 (All comps)

The use of the Away Bumblebee top is more settled, but still some oddities. For example in 2 games at Tynecastle against Hearts, we wore the 3rd strip in a 2-1 League loss in December and the Bumblebee in a 2-1 league win in May.

As it happens, we also lost when wearing the 3rd strip away at Tannadice v United in the league in November 2009 but won wearing the normal Hoops at Tannadice in April 2010. So P2 L2 in the white '3rd' strip that season.

Among those 10 wins in Bumblebee, we defeated Falkirk twice (once in league and once in Cup, but also drew with them once away in the league) who finished last & were relegated, Dunfermline and Greenock Morton (both in Scottish Cup and both from lower league), Killie in the Scottish Cup (but lost to them - also in bumblebee in the League... where they finished 11th - just 2 points above Falkirk - so literally, the 3 points Killie got for beating Celtic that evening was the difference between Killie being relegated and them avoiding the drop), and St M (who we beat away in September, but then lost 4-0 to St M in that horror night that ended Mowbray in March... and finished 10th - just 1 point above Killie).

So, in other words, 6 of the 10 wins overall came against either lower league opposition, or against a team that was relegated or only narrowly avoided relegation.

If looking for a positive, not many, but 2 of the 3 'bumblebee' draws in total came in 'Away' draws in the Europa League, so.... yay, I guess?

In both of those seasons combined, we have actually lost or drawn more games than we have won. Obviously the quailty of the overall squad, the players who are wearing those shirts has to come into it, but seriously, with a track record like that, why would the club even tempt fate and even consider going back to that strip again?

    Bumblebee overall: W16 D7 L10

    No, No, No to Bumblebee!

    END OF SIDEBAR

    Anyhow, back to Jota discussion...

2015/16 we won the league with a bumblebee. Did lose to the huns in the cup though.

Jota was a lot more effective on the left from memory, not sure I’d want him (or Maeda) playing on the right too much. I’m hoping he was brought in to compete with Maeda for LW & we’ll look to bring in another RW either this month or in the summer.

    That was awful.

If we are gonna do it I'd rather have the hooped version.

@Westlondonscot That is a 3rd kit. It is literally even in the celtic-fc-2015-2016-bumblebee-third-kit-9.jpg link that you posted and I am trying to not derail this JOTA thread any further... which was why I tried to sidebar.

I respect your opinions and consider you as one of the more insightful members on here, and you're welcome to research through the archives of 2015/16 to clock how many times/what the record was when wearing that was. I've done 2 seasons of when the bumblebee has been the official 'Away' kit this morning already, so feel free. :)

    Back to Jota...

Been totally against his re-signing after his serious lack of playing time and strop he's thrown at Rennes. What's his motivation for coming back here? And going forward?

Regardless will back him 100% and hope he finds his 2022 form again.

Also find it odd that Kyogo ends up at the same club Jota is coming from...can't imagine Kyogo made that his first choice destination. Club prob tld him Rennes or nothing knowing they had a deal for Jota going on as well
