Sorry if this has been covered but..

Did kyogo choose to go to Rennes and it just so happened they had a player we wanted so we could pay less for him with this deal. Or did he want out and this deal will double his wages so he didn’t care where he went, even though they are 5 point from the bottom side. Any other angles I’ve missed :39:

This is a good question. It does seem a little convenient that he's heading to the same club we're getting Jota from. My assumption is that we asked him 'want to go to Rennes' and he went 'aye, why not'.

This seems to be a player led decision and Kyogo has been sensational for us, I would prefer to have kept him until the summer but it is what it is. He has been sensational. I would only have Dembele above him in regards the best since Larsson (Bellamy was sensational too but wasn't permanent). Loved Kyogo. What a striker and hunskelper. He will always be an icon here now.

Thought he have more ambition than 5th bottom Rennes, good luck to him though

It’s all about the £££ …. It always wins over ambition.

I'm not convinced he will be getting that much more at Rennes.

Tbf I don't think we realise how boring it must get playing in the SPFL at times for players. Some players just fancy a change. It isn't necessarily always all about the money.

There's no chance Rennes are paying him considerably more than we are/was.

£19k seemingly here and that's about their squad average (some higher of course).

I'd imagine he will go there on 20-25k.

And I imagine the entire idea for Kyogo is to have a challenge in a new league and see if he gets a chance in the national squad again before he eventually moves back east.

Rennes might pay more than Celtic but they are club going nowhere in a league thats mostly been dominated by one team. And play in front of about 20k fans.

I find it really hard to understand Kyogo would be in a rush to go there given we are chasing a treble and through to knockout champions league football. He could have stayed an extra 4 months, experienced champions league knockout football and enjoyed signing off in front of the fans with a treble.

Then at the end of the season he could have got his move and quite possibly had better offers than Rennes to look at.

Must admit I do find Rennes to be a strange move.

But it's upto him. Maybe interest wasn't that high in him?

I do find it weird that even a side in Germany, or a bigger side in France or Italy, didn't fancy a punt on him at £10m.

    Anyway. Not arsed!

    I think he'll struggle in Ligue 1.

In a system completely dedicated and tailored to his strengths he might be alright. But the league is very, very physical. Not many people realise that.

On the other hand Sampaoli is probably the perfect manager for him. Probably about as close to the Ange/Bielsa archtype as you're going to get.

With his movement and skill at hanging offside and cutting back in when play breaks forward, he could get a lot of joy for a lower half team on the counter. He won't be playing against parked buses, that's probably more of a constant physical struggle for him here with the way we play now, and his goal tally the last year reflects that.

Nah the poll results are emotion based while most can see that it’s about right for him to move on, for his own reasons.

I voted no, but I purely see the sense all round for this move. Even going to Rennes makes sense to me, a cold night in Paris or Monaco has a bit more to it than a cold night in Dingwall.
