All other scores going against us, but we can't be looking elsewhere hoping for favours

It's in our hands, let's take it - or we don't deserve to be there

Too many uneasy permutations there to be comfortable with.
A win is an absolute necessity, because I can't see us taking anything at Villa.

If we are clutching at straws, the only teams below us that can overtake us, assuming we lose both games (sorry)...
    • PSG have Man City at home and Stuttgart away - they need at least 2 points
    • Man City have Brugge at home and PSG away - they need at least 1 point
    • Zagreb have Arsenal away and AC Milan at home - they need at least 2 points due to minus 5 GD - unless we get to -5 or worse ourselves
    • Shaktar have Brest at home and Dortmund away - they need at least 6 points given GD
    • Sparta have Inter at home and Leverkusen away - they need at least 6 points given GD

Good post mate. I think Feyenoord are done at this stage, and I have a feeling Stuttgart will get something from the PSG game. It’s all down to us now but, at the end of the day, if we can’t beat a team on zero points, at home, then we don’t deserve to go any further tbh.

The only game that matters this week is Celtic at home against the worst team in the competition by far, we couldn’t have hand picked it better ourselves.

Time for us to do the business for ourselves tomorrow night, Villa will take care of itself thereafter.

We are playing the bottom placed side, knowing we can go through with a win.

If we don't do it, then we don't deserve it.

I’ve got that feeling about it as well, it’s a game that will tell us how good we are or how far we have to go, it’s up to the players and the manager to tell us what that is.

We've done really well, but surely we have to do it tomorrow. I see villa beating us next week, but looking at the table, we'll have played the bottom 3 teams at this point have lost all their games.

That’s an exact quote that I said to my mate earlier tonight.

But these are the kinda games that * scare me as well, fans are expectant, the team will be going in knowing they’re favourites and need to. In Europe historically it’s the games we * don’t do. We terrorised Slovan though. We’ve been * at punishing teams with chances created recently, tomorrow we absolutely need to make sure that doesn’t happen.

YB having a winter break and essentially only playing for pride, no fear and a new manager to impress does make it a slightly dodgy fixture in that sense as all the impetus and pressure is on our players.

We need to impose ourselves on them and start fast to rattle them. Get the crowd bouncing and the game will take care of itself.

The fans need to be positive in the stadium tonight. I felt like the brugge game it was a case of we just need to turn up, reminded me of the boavista game in 2003!

An early goal would be massive..

Players need to play their part too tho..

Rodgers comments on patience a couple of weeks ago were with this one in mind..

Like Mr. Shelby said, we're facing a team in crisis—rock bottom and there for the taking. This one’s all on us; if we don’t come away with the win, we’ve only got ourselves to blame. We need to come out firing, get an early goal, and keep the pressure on. Massive game.

The state of Dortmund this season makes the 7-1 look horrendous. As I said at the time, it’s the poorest side they’ve had in many years.

That said, win tonight and it doesn’t really matter. Getting through is what counts.

Every single little thing that could go wrong in Germany went wrong, it was (now clearly looking back and in context) an anomaly for this team this season.

The only time we’ve just plain and simply not turned up to that extent was Ibrokes which is equally as painful yet had less overall effect to us as a club given the cushion our excellent domestic form has gave us.

Sporting and Brest both losing atm, good results for us (bit hopeful maybe with catching Brest but not impossible)
