Again more wrong statements out of you. Wilson played his first 6 months at Celtic at Left Back and was consistently one of the best performers in the team according to the media and fans.

Maybe you would like to search for threads from that period if can only remember his performances at right back.

Your right Dempsey, before his injury against Manure, Wilson was Solid at Left back. Looked a clever player for his age, great tackler, comfortable on the ball, he was no Roberto Carlos but he got down the flanks fine, and rarely wasted a pass.

I remember starting a thread around that time saying how chuffed I was with him and that he'd make the position his own for years to come, everyone who posted seemed to agree whole-heartedly.

At the same time, I can't see that ever happening now.

I would like our best FBs to play and IMO they are Caddis, Wilson and Hinkel. None are LBs but we have no choice. My favoured option would be Caddis at RB and either Wilson or Hinkel at LB. Both have played LB before and Wilson was good there previously.

Got to agree Wilson had a mare and made errors the previous week too. However, Wilson has so many good aspects and, daft as it sounds, he played the attacking LB role superbly apart from selling two goals. He may be a bit like Caldwell - a really decent player who needs to cut out careless costly errors. If he could do that then I think Wilson could be a lot better than Jackie was, another right footed LB. Wilson has pace and is a very decent passer and keeper of a ball.

However, I would also be interested in seeing Hinkel at LB because I think he would be solid (if a little dull) from day one. My intinct though (having calmed down a bit) is to persist with Wilson for a few more weeks as he adds a lot to our left side in attack.

 

To be fair Wilson and Caddis are better than anyone currently in the Scotland squad at RB but we just have too many decent Rbs and Burley really cant pick someone who is not playing RB for that position. Wilson was unlucky because he had a high profile mare at the worst possible time while Clubfoot has suddenly hit form.

 

Good post mate a agree 100% wilson doesn,t look to good at lb,, all in all wee should not even be having this discussion if wgs or the board signed a natural lb in ther first place which wee have been crying oot for, wee wouldn,t have to play a lb at rb,, celtics lack of spending i think is going to cost us this season,, imo wee have been * at the back every season since martin oneil left,:icon_mrgreen: and wee,ve still not strenghend, he bought loovens but leaves him on the bench,, the carry on with doumbe was laughable, caldwell is mince but av got to give to him he is improving , mccmanus is having a nightmare season already,, hinkel looks ordinary, imo balde is the best defender at cp, NOT USED, >>why????,, wee will struggle in the cl this year with out a doubt if rangers can score 4 by us at home am dreading the humping villareal and man u , will give us ,, that,s why wee should have brought in a fb or 2,, i hope wee do well in the cl but i just can,t see it, a lot of boys in the work think wee will pump villareal but i think man utd will struggle against this team who have tremendous players!!! even beter players now than what they had in 2004!
