at least 4 of those were definitely used in Glasgow, and still are.

Shan - still used today. My group of pals from the Calton we all still us it.
Gadjie - more used to describe a tramp.
Raj - yip, maybe not used so much, but definitely still there at times (more used to using ragin')
Sheckles - every now and again.

Radge, Gadje and Shan are definitely Edinburgh words in my experience.

Beelin', Rocket, Weapon, Pure, Actual, But are words I often heard when living in Glasgow but never heard them in other parts of Scotland.

Aye glesga can be strange at times.

Just start spelling a name backwards then start naming folk that name. That's a strange wan.

There's a whole underground street exactly underneath Argyle Street ya know.
From Central Station Bridge to Glasgow Cross. Running exactly under the street on the surface. It has shop faces and everything. But its kinda kept quiet by the council cause they dont want folk going investigating. Was used during the Plague to house the infected. It caused havoc when they built the Subway.

It can be accessed through only certain points. A couple of older buildings on argyle street have mysterious doors below their ground floor. One was burst through to investigate as no one had ever seen the door unlocked or knew anything about a key. It did indeed lead to underground passages that were partially blocked and flooded.

The whole underground street remains flooded a lot of the time due to high water from the Clyde. The river has edged further north into the land over time and it does not flow exactly as it did when the street was built

    That is strange,

I don't know why I told yous all that but there ye go...

I listed most of them as Edinburgh auld language. I've never heard anyone in Glasgow speak like that. Just what I've experienced like....

Also 'Gadje' means a young male mot a tramp.

'Sheckles' means money. Usually in coin form.

They're romani gypsy words that have been incorporated into the Scottish language. I've only heard Romani gypsies talk like that and also people from Edinburgh and the east.

"Shan' means bad. And 'Barry' means good

'Worst *' is one that's appeared over last 10 years. Don't know where it came from. Or how it started. Did someone just start saying it one day and it caught on?

No even really sure what it means cause it's typical glesga and doesn't make sense.

To be not just only a *.....but the worst of all the *!

Think it's an extension of calling someone a good * or a bad *.

Years ago, in the 70's, my cousin lost a tooth. My aunt was skint so put a Gless Cheque under her pillow.

Years ago, I walked into my parents kitchen, or scullery, where my sister and Da were talking. I asked what was happening. My Da answered; " She's having a wee bit of trouble at work. Her boss is a Gadje" My sister started to laugh. When he asked what she was laughing at, she said; " She's not a Gadje, she'a a Gypsy" He thought that what a Gadje was

    Good to know!

Is this accesible in any of the secret street tours ye get in Glesga?

My mate was telling me about one recently (forgot most of the conversation mind you) something about a secret street or secret underground passage type thing underneath Central Station or Queen Street (cannie mind. he's a specky train conductor, pure a pure dead good * by 'ra way!)

There is an old dis-used underground station in that area aswell. The Subway goes right through it on way to Bridgeton. You wouldn't notice though because it's dark. They also don't go making it public knowledge cause people will go investigating and searching for stuff and cause all kinds of problems

I used all of these words when i lived in Glasgow and i'm no where near your Grannies age, are these words not used anymore?

When i was growing up in Easterhouse Gypsies were always referred to as Gadgies, they'd come round the doors selling wee trinkets and fortune telling, one man used to carry around a sharpening stone and he'd sharpen your knifes and scissors for a couple of bob.
