Yang Hyun Jun

He’s clearly not “pish”. I don’t think he’s st the level we need (yet). Some people are desperate to put a negative spin on anything.

Would like to see him get to the byline more.

 

We'll agree to disagree on that point. Our defence conceding 3 weak goals is what cost us tonight, I didn't see any of Yang's mistakes leading to Dundee goals, but I take the overall point of him not being good enough to play every week and we need reinforcements in the LW area. As he is obviously a notable drop in quality from Daizen. But Yang is genuinely one of the few players I'd give pass marks to after this game, and I think he's been ok in our last few.

 

Yeah the noticeable drop in quality is an issue, but I also sympathise that he hasn't had much game time this season and that it's normally going to take a young player from the other side of the globe far longer to settle in to a team. So comparing him to Kuhn, Daizen and Forrest isn't really a fair comparison. I agree, we need to strengthen the wide area and Yang likely won't feature much for the rest of the season, but I do on the flip side think he does deserve some credit for his attitude and effort when he's been called upon. He's been an easy target recently.

 

That's fair, and we have been blessed with some crackers over the last few years. It's a high bar for sure.

 

Yep, some people are clearly letting their compassion cloud their judgement.

 

With a few clear instructions, he would improve a lot. What I hope this goal has given him is confidence.

 

The problem is he does get the the byline, he just ALWAYS chops back even when he’s managed to get space to put it in. He totally nullifies our usual attack plan by chopping back and passing it to whichever midfielder is on the edge of the box.

we lose all momentum every time he does it.

He’s always very busy without actually doing much.

He had a lot of the ball in the first 30 minutes. But I can’t remember him putting a decent ball in the box, having a shot at goal, or playing a dangerous progressive pass into the box.

Glad he got his goal but he needs to be much more ruthless and direct.

 

Glad he got his goal, might give him some confidence. If we sign a winger this month, and Forrest returns to fitness, he's still 5th choice. We should put him on loan for 5 months for our, and his, benefit.

You can tell Rodgers likes the guy as a person but doesn’t rate him as a footballer. He likes his hard working attitude but the “oh bless” comment and the one at the weekend about him being a hard worker.

 

His attitude is spot on but that’s about where it ends in terms of him being the standard required of a Celtic winger.

We seriously need to improve in that area because he’s absolutely miles off the level we need, even as back up imo.

 

As a Celtic forward you need to have an end product. He doesn't & we can't hang about, fingers crossed hoping it all eventually clicks for him. This is his chance and I don't think he's taken it. New winger required. See if we can loan him out and get some money back for him eventually.

 

That's an insult to MJ who, for all his faults, is a better player than Yang.

 

It's not that clear mate. At one point last night(2nd half) he was moving along slowly with the ball at his feet, tried some trick or other but missed contact with the ball completely and got his legs in such a tangle he tripped himself up. He's not even remotely good enough to be getting game-time here. Or maybe that should be he shouldn't be good enough to be getting game-time here.
