Three times in a month we've conceded three goals in a game in Scotland not even in Europe, guessing we're lucky more teams don't attack us

5 points from last 12 away in league

Conceded 6 to rangers and 3 to dundee 2 of those games teams ravaged with injury.

    Teams * defence * diagraceful

I think our defence needs more protection from our midfield, that doesn't excuse Dundee's second or third goals but when a team counter attacks our midfield are often in no man's land.

Get Tierney in this window and another CB in the summer window alongside a CDM and we'll look a lot better.

We've only dropped points in 4 league games, we've lost only one game.. we're 16pts clear and have won the first domestic trophy of the season..

Don't get me wrong we'll need to be much better v YB, but come on..

    It’s the midfield.

    The space is * embarrassing.

There’s a big gap between the midfield and the defense. It was particularly noticeable against the huns when they were the first to every ball when our defense cleared it.

Aye, some of them haven't been covering themselves in glory but that midfield is a problem..

    It needs addressing..

We've got our captain who's legs are going and struggles when the pace is high now, as well as getting in tackles
Hatate is a man down too often now and gives it away so many times in dangerous areas
Bernardo isn't as bad as the 2 above for this but at the same time he doesn't impose his game enough for a player of his quality

If we don't sort this out, we'll continue to struggle in bigger games when the going gets tough.....as well as wee scares like tonight..

    Knee * nonsense.

Look at the table, look at the goals for and against and then try and argue anything other than we’ve been excellent the vast majority of the season and will win the league at a canter.

I wouldn't be blaming the defence too much - in front of them is a major problem. We need physicality in the centre of midfield. No one is protecting them. Captain goes around pointing at everyone when the game is bypassing him at times

My mate is a United fan and watched the Huns game with me. Said it was exactly like watching Casemiro and Eriksen. And we are talking about young guys with legs outwith McGregor.

It absolutely lacks real legs, physicality and dynamism..

Exactly, thread title should be changed to Midfield. Been saying it for ages, this Midfield just isn't working. Doesn't score enough goals and doesn't protect the defence.

Hatate has chucked it for me, be seriously looking to offload this window
Bernardo is way too inconsistent and one paced
    Calmac on the slide
Luke is tidy but seems to run out of steam
Engels has been poor too most of the season after a bright start.
We are playing with two wingers that are good enough all season..

    Midfield needs shaken up

Pretty sure Schmeichel is on for a clean sheet record this season so I don't think it's *. Add to that our performance away vs Atalanta defensively..

However. Whenever a side avtually has a proper go at us you can see we get spooked too easily and are vulnerable

The games where teams sit off and don't bother to attack us probably masks a lot of issues with our set up I'll admit.

I'd agree with comments above that there isn't enough focus on how the midfield influences the defence. There's no protection and in the bigger games it'll cost us.

We don't have a proper CDM. Look at all the successful teams in Europe they have a proper CDM who can protect their defense and break up play. McGregor is an exceptional technician but a CDM he is not. If we acquire a Wanyama type CDM we will be more solid as a team while moving McGregor to a CM which imo is his best position.

So you're happy with a defence/midfield that conceded three goals in three separate games in Scotland in the last month? you're kidding yourself and forgetting how poor our league is

    Rodgers doesn't agree with you

And when the Sky cameras cut to the Celtic bench amid the home celebrations, Rodgers' assessment was clear as day to anyone watching. The Celtic boss clearly mouthed "weak as p***" in response to the goal, and won't have been happy with. much of what he saw from his team on Tayside

    Also Rodgers

"My main worry is from a defensive perspective. It wasn’t the attack tonight [that was a problem], it was defensively.
‘It’s basic stuff. It’s a game we let get away from us when there was no need. Sometimes when you have dominance and when you’re creating, it can make you a bit passive.
‘We don’t normally do that but we certainly did tonight. We were very passive, especially second half. The game should have been out of sight in the first half."

We've conceded 2 less than Ange's side in his peak (and last) season at the same point of the league campaign. Schmeichel is on track to beat clean sheet records. If we start to keep conceding consistently over coming months then aye, I'll begin to get concerned. But at the moment January just looks like an outlier as our defensive record is actually quite impressive over the course when January is weighed against previous months.

Not brushing away the team's vulnerabilities or saying everything is rosey btw just saying context is needed before saying we suck at defending.

For me a glaring issue ovb the huge gap with midfield but you got a Greg Taylor not capable of tracking back makes the gap even more ovb
