When u think on it now. It's surprising that there was not more really bad incidents like that at Hillsborough with the crazy * way it was run.

Could have any crowd in.....10-20 thousand over what the board actually declared in tax.....they wouldn't be bothered if that many more had paid undeclared.....they also wouldn't consider how much the terracing could actually hold....emergency exits etc....unbelievable when u think of it now

That is * horrible. I can put up with a lot of grotty stuff and hygiene issues.

But other people's pish is too far. I wouldn't take a wean to that environment nowadays.....but it was different then.....

You got sat in some manky boozer in a corner with a glass of cola and some crisps and telt tae shut it ....while the men got blootered pished.....that was if u were lucky and didnae get made to wait ootside.

The smell of pub toilets and stale pish was everywhere it seemed.

I always relate the auld ground to desperate times when we were really bad and won nothing. We finished 4th the first 2 years I had my season ticket.

Other people will have better memories.

If I could go back in time I'd have loved to have been at that 10 men won the league game against rangers. Late 70s was it? Apparently the atmosphere at that game was off the scale. No t.v or radio coverage at all. So u had to be st the game to know the score.

There must have been towns an villages all over Scotland having to wait till the supporters buses got back before they'd know if we has won or not.

I'd have loved to have been at that game

Im pretty sure the toilets didnt go right along, they stopped before half way.I remember there was an access gate in the middle for the tv van(parked in jane field st), to allow cables etc... if the game was on Scotsport or Sportscene.

Scotsport or Sportscene only showed the highlights of one game back then and you only knew our game was on that weekend if you seen the TV van at the ground

Always remember my first European game at Celtic park(1969) against Benfica..a massive crowd and we won 3 nil in the first leg.
A couple of weeks later listened to the return leg on the radio(Benfica won 3 nil). The ref took both captains into the dressing rooms to decide the winners by tossing a coin....crazy stuff.

Another flash back for that Benfica game....I was right at the back of the Celtic end and all the young supporters(including me) Climbed the steel structure under the roof to get a view over the adults.Dads would come up and get their kids at the end of the game.

I think Benfica had been beat the year before in the European final by Man Utd.

That was the normal way of settling games in between 3rd game replays and the introduction of penalty shootouts

I went to St Mungos Academy when I was younger. I stayed facing Celtic Park, so I had to pass Barrowfield every day to get home. That was a *. Don't know how many times we were chased down London Rd. I used to hear of people getting their shoes and clothes stolen in Barrowfield. * of a place

I remember being in main stand right in the gods watching us v Dinamo Kiev and the sound of the stamping on the wooden floors was incredible especially after Judas scored the equaliser in 79th minute.
Thought we were going to fall through the floor
