    Yes please.

He'd be a great back up/rotation striker. Seems to be a higher level of talent than Kenny was, for example.

Wouldn’t be able to play for us til 2026 anyway so if we sign him no doubt it would be to loan him back instantly. Should be very much signing the boy though with the potential he has. Even at 2 million

Could we loan him and bring him over in the Summer? £2m or something like that with a sell on

Looks exactly what we need and better prospect than Yang, who we will be relying on at the weekend with injuries to Maeda and Khun.

To me it doesn’t seem to be a type of proactive deal we tend to do however so would be surprised to see it get done.

He's being described as one of the most technically good players to come out of Ireland in a very very long time. Some avid loi watchers might confirm

We won’t get him. Once the big teams in England come for players we are linked to you can forget it

Seen a few comments suggest his long term future may be as a no10/false 9 type. Apparently technically very strong but not the quickest.

Anyone seen a decent bitnof him? Other than youtube

Ireland underage striker Mason Melia has travelled to Celtic amid growing interest in the St Patrick’s Athletic teenager.

Melia’s visit to the Scottish champions is believed to have taken place last week, as Brendan Rodgers’ side extended a similar invitation to the one that took the 17-year-old to Tottenham before Christmas.

Serie A side Bologna are also eager to bring Melia over, while there is interest too from the Bundesliga and Belgium.

However, Melia is likely to opt for a move to the UK - and that is good news for St Pat’s fans, as it means he cannot make a switch until his 18th birthday in late-September, due to Brexit rules.

With the English and Scottish transfer windows closed by then, he wouldn’t officially sign for his new club until next January.

Melia is thought to be close to a decision on his future, with Spurs and Celtic, and some other Premier League clubs, eagerly awaiting a call.

The Wicklow native burst onto the scene in 2023 when he scored on his first-team debut for Pat’s in a Leinster Senior Cup win over Wexford.

His first League of Ireland goal came against UCD in June of that year. At the age of just 15 years and 281 days old, he became the league’s youngest ever goalscorer.

Only Evan Ferguson and Melia’s former Pat’s teammate Sam Curtis made their debuts at a younger age.

Liverpool and Crystal Palace are among some of the other clubs linked with the teen sensation, who played 41 times for Pat’s last season, including 14 league starts.

However, Spurs and Celtic appear to be leading the race for the striker.

The Glasgow giants have previous when it comes to raiding the League of Ireland for the best young striking talent.

Three years ago they signed Johnny Kenny from Sligo Rovers, and after loan spells at Queens Park and Shamrock Rovers he made his first-team bow in last weekend’s win away to Ross County.

It is likely that Melia would not have to wait as long for his breakthrough at Parkhead.

His form last year earned him the PFA Ireland Young Player of the Year award, as well as the Pat’s Young Player of the Year prize.

He has been capped up to Under-19 level for Ireland. Called up to the Under-21s last October for the first time, he was forced to withdraw with an injury

Excited with this one! And great timing this week Johnny Kenny getting his chance; hopefully shows the pathway is there. And Liam scales to add to that too in recent years

He's seen as a much much bigger prospect than Kenny ever was in Ireland for whatever it's worth. Kenny had some good attributes that might make for a decent player, Melia is seen more as a generational prospect.

Would be a bit of a coup for us if he opted to come here I think. Very highly thought of.

Obviously a smart head on his shoulders if he's not jumping straight into a move, even if it is to the EPL. Let's hope if he is a proper talent that he ends up here rather than Spurs.

He's quicker and more mobile than idah.. he might not be maeda or mbappe but he's certainly not slow. Wouldn't consider kyogo a rocket either.

Desmond owns a 25% stake in Shamrock Rovers not St Patrick's Athletic so he has no influence on this potential move.
