Ruby Roo had her operation to remove the cancerous tumor on friday lunchtime. It was horrible dropping her off in the morning, i left in tears, as the details of risks were given. Then i had 2 shocks, first my sister phoned at 1.10pm, thought bad news, then the Vets phoned 1.36pm, thought it first must be bad news as they said they should be phoning 2.30-3. But it was very good news, surgery went very well.

I picked her up at 5.45pm, the wound was deeper and bigger from the operation than first thought but the tumor has gone and the surround. Ruby Roo and me were equally pleased to see each other. We will know in a week what grade of cancer it is, we are praying it is grade 1. The main thing that horrible tumor has gone.

She left the Vets with those annoying cones on her head, but i have now got an inflatable protective collar which she much prefers and only needs to wear it when i am not around.

So for the next 2 weeks just one small walk a day, so we both suffer equally, but it will soon fly by and once again big walks as usual. Her appetite is as healthy as ever, always a good sign, bless her. And she is doing her business fine. At first she was in a fair bit of pain but was very brave and now it has virtually gone and she is happy and loved.

As we all know in here our dogs are proper loved members of our families:49:

Some very good news, i got a call from the Vet today, Ruby Roo has grade one cancer, and it is virtually certain the bad cells have been removed as the surgery has been successful . She has been very brave having had severe Diarrhea and lost her appetite.

Yes she reacted badly to the pain killers but today her appetite is back and she is a lot happier. She has a wee bit of paracetamol every day which has really helped.

I am so relieved, I love her more than life itself :49:

My Boxer Ruby Roo may have Lymphoma cancer now. It is just not fair she is such a loving being and so brave. She of course recently had surgery to remove a cancerous Mast Cell Tumour and was fighting strong.

Over the festive time she started to drink more water and was more lethargic than usual and started to find it hard to bite hard things like her dental sticks, she simply was not her usual full of fun jumpy self. And I discovered 2 lumps on her throat.

She went on thursdsy for blood tests which luckily were okay as was her heart, breathing, weight , muscle tone , mouth and overall health. However they have sent samples of the 2 lumps to be tested as there is a real threat of this horrible cancer. I just have that horrible week wait.

Hopefully if it is this horrible disease it is not full in aggressive and she go on being happy and loved for say a year, I would take that. I love my 8 year 9 month old Boxer daughter so so much.

Some hope on Friday and yesterday she really enjoyed her sizable walks , is eating fine, seems a lot more comfortable and is sleeping much better. She also had some of her hard biscuits again. Oh and loved some lamb I gave her again.

It is the news i feared but expected, the Vet phoned today and she has Lymphoma cancer which has spread. She only has months left at best. She is such a brave loving bog hearted soul and while fighting off one cancer another hidden one was here all the time.

I hope she can get to her 9th birthday on April 2nd, we would both take that right now. One thing for sure every second she is still on this planet will be full to the brim with love.

Just before Christmas a month after stepdaughters dog died we were looking after her friends dog, a golden retriever.
Just found out that her friends husband was driving with dog in back and was in a serious crash. He survived with some injuries but dog died at scene. It was only 8 mths old.
