Details: Celtic are preparing a first bid for Touré

Already in September, FotbollDirekt could reveal that Celtic was one of the more serious interested parties for Hammarby's Bazoumana Touré, 18.

According to FD's information, the Scots have seen Touré on site in Stockholm, through chief scout Joe Lefevre, who is said to have been impressed by what he has seen .

Earlier, in August, Hammarby's sporting director Mikael Hjelmberg determined that Bazoumana Touré would be Hammarby's most expensive sale.

    - Of course that is the ambition, it definitely is, he said to FotbollDirekt .

In December, he then followed it up by demanding a Swedish record amount for his 18-year-old Ivorian. This means a little over SEK 130 million.

    - There are many clubs who ask about him and there are many clubs who are curious about what it would cost to buy him off. There, we have been quite clear about what we think - and that may also be why nothing concrete has come yet, said Hjelmberg in Lundh's podcast .

Almost two weeks ago, Ivorian Le Foot 225 believed that Brighton were favorites to get their hands on Touré and that "The Seagulls" would do everything they could. According to the site's information, Hammarby wanted 13 million euros (around SEK 147 million) or more for his super talent.

Now comes new information about competition.

It is the transfer journalist Ekrem Konur who reports that Celtic is preparing a first bid for the Ivorian, which is expected to be made shortly. It remains to be seen if Celtic meets Hammarby's demands.

Bazoumana Touré has a contract with Bajen until the end of 2028.

Think that's because we were genuinely interested in the summer. Probably missed the boat now

CELTIC have been warned off a talented teenage talent after his current club slapped a £10MILLION price tag on him.

The Hoops are set to make an offer for 18-year old Hammarby starlet Bazoumana Toure, according to reports in Sweden

Celtic have sent scout Jay Lefevre to Sweden to watch the Ivory Coast Under 20s star and he was impressed with his performances.

English Premier League outfit Brighton are also reportedly interested in him.

Hammarby's sports manager Mikael Hjelmberg has confirmed that he expects Toure to become the club and country's record transfer sale.

He said: "Of course, that's definitely the ambition.

There are many clubs who ask about him and there are many clubs who are curious about what it would cost to buy him.

"But we have been quite clear about what we think - and that may also be why nothing concrete has come yet.

"I’ve told Bazou and his representatives that if we’re going to sell this winter, it should be for a Swedish record.”

Toure - who is under a long-term contract for another three years - made 23 starts for Hammarby in the Swedish top flight and chipped in with eight goals

He joined the Stockholm club less than a year ago from homeland outfit ASEC Mimosas for £300,000.

Nor should we imo, i'd rather a much more experienced player if we're paying that.

With Brighton interested as well as Brentford I think it does show tbf he is one of those that we may regret missing out on

But I think it's a fee that we'd never pay for a player that age and coming from there. Would be atonished.

"You pay for the player not the league." - Brendan Rodgers.

Touré will probably be worth treble that in a year or two. If we can spend £9m on Adam flipping Idah, we can push the boat out to sign a talent like this.

Young talents at 18/19 with the type of ability Toure already has are at a premium. If he comes here and does well for a year, he’ll go for mega money.

Look at all the top transfers from clubs like Ajax, Salzburg? Benfica, etc - they’re 20 year olds signed at 18/19 for this sort of money. The exact profile of someone like Toure.

€10m to get him is a fraction of what he could be worth in a season’s time. Not like we’re struggling for cash either, and he looks like he could come in straight away and have a big impact.

Is it a case of them asking for 10 million but in reality maybe accepting 7+? I’ve no idea how good the guy really is but I would much rather we signed guys in that 7 million bracket that have something about them rather than a bunch of 2/3 million punts

If we are serious in looking to buy, develop and then sell on top talent then we will need to be prepared to spend a little more money to start with.

Teams are getting wise now and are quite rightly asking for more which is what we also do.

You're preaching to the choir here. I've been asking for us to do this for years.

But I don't think we will pay £10m for an 18 year old from the Swedish league. Regardless of the Idah and Engels situations.

10 mil, bearing in mind it will be amortised over multiple seasons, for an exciting talent in a position of need really shouldn't be beyond us.

We've been conditioned to think this sort of signing is beyond us by years of spunking 2/3 million on duds. It's exactly what clubs with similar incomes and 'player trading' models we aspire to do, and have done for some time.

I'm all for this but really doubt the club would outlay that much after the summer

That's the way to look at it. If we paid £11M for Engels and £9M for Idah, then Bazoumana at £10M is well within our grasp.

He is worth it. He is a most exciting and talented prospect at only 18, and his value will only continue to go up, as he continues to develope and progress.

If we want to stay ahead of the curve, then this is the way to go, instead of frittering £3M here or there, on lesser players who might never make it with us.

We can still find value in the 3-4m range. E.g. Kuhn.

The scouting just hasn't been good enough. I agree though that signings at this level should be the norm.

Time will tell..but I think this guy will go elsewhere.
