I agree he does need to do much more but also agree with the manager that there was a major lack of balls into the box from wide areas, specifically not along the deck.

He’s yet to really grasp his chance though, undeniable.

I would be very surprised if he starts the weekend. The 3 home starts lately where a big opportunity for him, he's offering absolutely nothing. His confidence will be through the floor....these games where designed to build him up.

There were signs when he was on loan that he could be a promising addition and given we spent 9M on him the club mustve felt there was something there. When you have already had a guy in on loan you get a proper chance to evaluate them.

Its not really happening this season for him though whether its starting or impact off the bench.

I think people are quick to judge by Idah's pricetag which is no fault of his. To get a 6'3 Strong striker with good speed who is decent at dribbling & finishing at 9m in the English market is an absolute steal normally. Let's see how he does after a run of games as Kyogo is not on form either remember. Does not matter who we play through the middle their getting starved of any service ATM.

I actually think he looks better and has more of an impact coming off the bench. His issue is when he’s starting he’s just having hardly any impact at all on games. Kyogo is similar although he misses a lot more chances, but I guess you would say at least he’s getting into a position where he’s getting them. Idah is just doing next to nothing other than the odd flick here or there.

It’s not entirely either of their fault because the way we play is set up for the wingers to really be our biggest goal threats but we undoubtably need more from both of them.

He deserves a decent run of games for sure but he needs to improve for sure.

I would start him on Saturday but look at bringing Kyogo on a tad earlier if he is not performing. This will be a physical encounter on a cut up pitch.

Prime Haaland would struggle to get goals in our team just now with the lack of chances created for our strikers.

I do have sympathy with the set up argument. A front 3 where the goal threat comes from wide players rather than the striker isn't too uncommon. Best example is probably the Salah, Firminho, Mane, combo at Liverpool. Man City have used Jesus up front in a similar system in the past.

Thing is, I just don't see anything in Idah besides a lack of goals or shots. For a big strong guy, he doesnt hold up the ball or use his weight particularly well, he isn't close enough to others for flick ons, passes back more than forwards when he comes deep, he doesnt take players on, doesnt run the line particularly well. Kyogo has been poor this season but always has that potential spark (like the finish against rangers that was marginally offside). Idah has started 4 of the last 5 at celtic park against mostly soft opposition and done nothing.

I honestly think it's money down the drain and I think the money we paid will get in the way of us replacing him which is my bigger worry. If he was a 1m punt we'd probably be looking for a replacement already.

I'm still willing to give him time but his movement inside the box is terrible.

He stands. When he makes a run it's always behind the defender.. he just needs to start a run, and nip in front of the defender instead of hiding. He's got the layoffs going well, just needs to get the other movement down.
