I think Rodgers has massively overreacted tbh. He's dragged Greg Taylor into it when there was no need to.

He would've known this would've caused a stir and the media would've jumped all over it..

Was there any need? Nope. Was there any need to keep going and going? Nope..

He's came back and done brilliantly, particularly at winning the fans back over, because of the football on display and the difference in his persona. Been less bullshit and waffle this time but instead of reading the room wrong on the Tierney chanting....he should maybe have done his grandpa Simpson impersonation gif and moonwalked in to the bush..

Celtic are back at Paradise this Wednesday night when they play host to Dundee United, and the Hoops will be aiming to extend their lead at the top of the Premiership table, which currently stands at 13 points.

Brendan Rodgers is anticipating a tough game against Jim Goodwin’s side, who currently sit third in the table and who held the Hoops to a goal-less draw at Tannadice just before Christmas.

And the Celtic manager again emphasised the importance of patience on and off the pitch throughout the course of the 90 minutes.

Speaking at Lennoxtown today, he said: My job is to create an atmosphere that players here, both in the training centre and at Celtic Park, and beyond that, can flourish and play in the style that the fans demand here. And that is all about a positive mentality, and that connection between both.

'Celtic fans are amazing for the team and for the players, and when everything’s right up there.'

“There are going to be moments, and over the course of the coming months, where teams will be sat in deep and you not always be able to play forward, and you have to come out and restart the attack again.

“I never ask the team to play around the houses and not be penetrative, and I think you see that in the goals that we score and the chances we create.

“But it’s an observation. I think everybody has the right to air their emotion and their feeling, and that was my feeling from the weekend, but now we look forward.

“I’ve mentioned it sporadically over my time here, just because I know what the power of this club is when everything is together and that unity’s there. And also what it feels like for the player to be on there and getting that amazing support

And off the back of the Rangers game and not playing anywhere near what our level is, I can understand that wee bit of fret and worry, but it’s something that’s very important.

“My priority with the players is the performance level and that comes from training and the games, and creating that atmosphere the players can thrive in, so that’s all I’m here to do – to manage and be the best that I possibly can be for Celtic in my time here, however long that is, and, of course, I will stand up for that.”

In 20 games this season, Celtic have won 17, drawn twice – including the game against Dundee United – and suffered just one defeat, which came in the recent Glasgow derby at Ibrox.

In the process of establishing a 13-point lead at the top of the table, the Hoops have also scored 55 goals and conceded seven, with just two of those seven goals coming at Celtic Park, in the 2-2 draw with Aberdeen back in October.

And while anticipating a tough match against Dundee United on Wednesday, Brendan Rodgers is confident his team can continue their strong league form.

“You see where they sit in the league,” he said. “They clearly are getting results and performances and doing very well.

“They made it very difficult for us up at Tannadice. It was difficult conditions and everything else but, still, we couldn’t make the breakthrough that day.

"But I would like to think that this will be a totally different game – playing at home, availability of players, good performance at the weekend, and now look to back it up.”

Sometimes you watch a press conference thinking it’s bad, then you look across town and realise it could be much much worse

Surprised to see people backing Rodgers in this. For absolutely no reason he’s decided to go after the fans twice in a few days and create an issue where there was none.

    Proper weird decision.

Hes gonna be in a mood when it's his last 6 months and big ange is looking likely to be lined up for his return and the crowd belting out a favourite christmas tune.

He was pretty unprompted in his criticism of the fans, which has then resulted in a bad reaction from the fans that the media are quite right to ask him about today.

It's not something that has bothered me too much personally and I actually see his point about the moaning, but he's created all of the fallout on his own.

Happy to move on from it though

Hoping this is nothing more than a storm in a tea cup, and not the ground work for an exit at the end of the season, just seems totally manufactured tbh, albeit he did have a point with regard to passing back the way, but his face is still trippin him for whatever reason.

Sitting 13 clear, why introduce a negative vibe ?

He can be a strange cat at times. I would like to hear what Greg Taylor thinks of it all. The support never mentioned his name only Tierneys then his manager came out and in attempt to stick up for him when there was no need to and in doing so flung him under the bus with his CL comments then again today he was a big part of the press conference for no real reason.

I imagine Taylor will be feeling very similar to the 50 cent what did he say * me for meme :giggle1:

Right so we’ve to be more like Swansea fans now Brendan aye?

Fans don’t moan about “changing the point of attack”. They moan when what are supposed to be technically sound players * it and refuse to play forward runners and instead pass it back.

He never said that though did he?

Fans clutching at straws based on what Rodgers said because they don't agree with his opinion.....take it on the chin and move on ffs

This all came from the manager mate, nobody else. He’s stirred the pot in public for some weird reason.

I’m not for managers telling his own supporters they effectively don’t understand football. You can say those aren’t words that have come out his mouth but he’s absolutely been doing his best to imply it. It’s arrogant and totally needless

Intentionally or not, he may have made the upcoming YB game less pressured for the players, hopefully we'll see a bit of patience from the supporters.. a massive game..

One thing is for sure, it won't take long for things to turn to toxic if things don't go to plan.

We need to move on now tho..
