A power outage this afternoon in the Parkhead area of Glasgow caused disruption to normal matchday services inside Celtic Park.

The outage, which happened early in the second-half of the game against St Mirren, affected the operation of the stadium’s big screens and PA system.

Thankfully, the stadium’s emergency generator system ensured continued power to the stadium’s floodlighting and safety systems, including the public thoroughfares ensuring that the match was able to continue after a short stoppage.

Due to Celtic TV’s live streaming being based at Celtic Park, todays live broadcast of the game was also impacted upon, with the normal Celtic TV coverage interrupted. This included a loss of commentary following the reinstatement of pictures after the power outage.

Supporters were also advised to take extra care when leaving the stadium at the end of the match due to the limited street lighting in the immediate Parkhead area.

Despite these issues being beyond the club’s control, Celtic would like to thank all supporters for their understanding.

No refund for those that paid for the individual match stream? Poor.

Following Sunday’s power outage in the wider Parkhead area of Glasgow that caused disruption to normal matchday services inside Celtic Park, the club has assessed the effect this had on Celtic TV’s Pay-Per-View broadcast of the game against St Mirren.

We acknowledge that, unfortunately, the power outage resulted in a loss of pictures and audio for part of the second half’s live coverage.

While the cause of the disruption was entirely outwith the control of the club, in light of these circumstances, Celtic will be reducing the previously advertised Pay-Per-View pricing by 50% for the forthcoming game against Dundee United at Celtic Park this Wednesday, January 8.

We hope that this discount will enable supporters who can’t make it to Celtic Park to enjoy the full game at home at a reduced price of £5.99 as a token of appreciation for your support on Sunday.

Celtic TV subscribers in the UK and Ireland will receive a discounted rate of £4.99, which will be automatically applied at checkout.

We would like to take the opportunity to thank you once again for your ongoing support and understanding related to this issue

When Celtic TV went down, I switched to St Mirren TV and it was fine. The whole thing is a tad strange.

As you say not their fault with the power outage. My feed went down just after the start of the second half and I didn't get it back until about the 70th minute so I missed the third goal. For sure it is the right thing to do though to give a big discount for Wednesdays game. It wasn't the clubs fault what happened but still it is absolutely the right to try and make up for that with the discount on Wednesdays game.
