There could be an outstanding opportunity for Kenny in the next few months.
If results go our way, league could be all but wrapped up soon. And with our 2 strikers out of form, there could be plenty gametime for him, with little results focused pressure.

 

Johnny Kenny has returned to training with Celtic today.

The striker has just returned from a successful loan spell with Shamrock Rovers and he trained with Brendan Rodgers’ squad as they debriefed after their derby defeat to Rangers


The 21-year-old, scored seven goals in nine European games, in the Champions League and Conference League for the Irish side while he also bagged 13 goals for Rovers in the Irish League last season.

Rodgers is now set to look at the frontman at closer quarters over the coming days.




The Hoops have limited frontline options behind Kyogo Furuhashi and Adam Idah, although the likes of Daizen Maeda can also play more centrally.

Celtic signed Kenny from Sligo back in 2022 and has spent time at Queen’s Park and two spells at Shamrock Rovers.

 

Think he should get some minutes.

 

Shamrock Rovers are still in Conference League and guaranteed knock out stages. Seems strange to bring him back now when he could be playing for Rovers in Europe.

 

Id imagine a decision will be made on him by end of this month. If he's miles off it he will be back at rovers or sold for a few quid by close of window

We can’t loan him now it would need to be a sale. If Holm and Welsh go out on loan we will be back up to 5 non home grown loans.

I think if Rodgers doesn’t fancy him he will be sold this month or the summer at the latest.

 

Ah ye his loans are done. He either gets Rodgers on board this month or

he will be sold to rovers or a English championship club by end of this window. Championship club for money if the internet is there I reckon

Haven't seen a lot of him but his stats for Rovers look good. Interesting to see if BR fancies him. Idah doesn't look to be up to it and Kyogo has been off the boil a bit.

Maybe not but surely makes more sense to let our player get some decent game time in Europe where hes been doing well than recall him to sit in the reserves. Can only assume they plan to sell in Jan.

 

If he plays a single game for ourselves though in the league doesn’t that mean he can’t play for 3 teams in one season? So in that case shamrock rovers would be the only team we could sell him to? Or even just loan back to?

 

Not too sure how it works tbh. Shamrock Rovers league season is over. Their league finishes in Nov. Rovers are still in the Europa Conference though. Their new league season starts up in Feb.

 

Hes not been recalled. He's been on loan for a year and their league season and his loan has come to an end
