For me as a neutral? Absolutely…

Only English team I actually watch now, the rest of the league is robotic *.

And if you were a Spurs fan? Are you happy with what you are seeing just now? Of course from a neutral point of view it’s great to see, because we couldn’t care less on the outcome. From a footballing point of view, it’s brain dead though isn’t it?

Fair play mate, you know the English game more than I do. I had no idea any other team had done that to Liverpool.

I do think Liverpool would have pumped them anyway, but when he's hampered with so many injuries why not just go for it?

Fair play to him. They lost by 3 goals. Had they tried to play defensively with that squad it may well have been worse.

I don’t actually watch loads of the EPL. Nothing like what I used to, but that applies to football in general for me.

I just think it’s stupid of him to come out in the interview and just purely put it down to having injuries. Because he hasn’t tried to play more pragmatic. So to blame it solely on injuries when you haven’t tried to change things doesn’t wash with me. The top managers will adapt in situations. Postecoglou is incapable of doing it, and his stubbornness is definitely a weak point.

The way I see it is Ange clearly only knows how to play one way. He doesn't know how to adapt or alter his tactics to suit the opposition, which is crazy when you're playing against some of the best teams and managers in the world.

I think he and Spurs are hanging their hat on getting the right players in for their system to counter this. Their squad is pretty poor, even without the injuries. I think Ange needs his strongest eleven for that to work every week down there. Even then, it doesn't guarantee success because I think they'll still be vulnerable and open to conceding sloppy goals.

I loved Ange and adored his football but doing it in Scotland with the best players or in Australia/Japan where the level isn't as high is completely different to doing it down there.

If they back him over the next 2 windows with proper quality players it might work out for him. But it's still a risk. If Levy doesn't want to buy the players necessary for his system then they might as well chuck it because their inconsistencies will continue with a threadbare squad and regular starters who aren't cutting it.

Yeah last point there is definitely something most managers will do. Can't make players who aren't suited to your game just constantly play that way. All teams set up different and that should be accounted for

Playing devil's advocate here, Ange bought a bunch of cheap players for us specifically for his system and it mostly worked... maybe Levy is hoping for the same?

If they want to win by playing rock and roll football they need a solid spine and a few world class players. A mixture of youth and experience.

For instance, when Klopp joined Liverpool their squad was full of * and they were very inconsistent in his early years. Then he bought Allison, Van Dijk, Fabinho, Wijnaldum, Mane, Salah, Robertson, etc. The rest is history.

Ange needs backed like that, but that requires bravery in the transfer market and top notch scouting.

The thing is, once you get the players back from injury, by all means go back to your style. If you have as many out as they do just now though, you need to maybe shitehouse your way to a few results, then that’s what it is. Because if it keeps up, he won’t be there to see the players coming back in order to play the style he wants anyway. I’m assuming those who are sticking up for his philosophy regardless were more happy watching us playing Dortmund as opposed to Atalanta? More entertaining after all seeing all the goals eh?

The Scottish league is more entertaining than the English.

    Tourist money league.

I think this is a weird thing to say. Being himself has built his career, not harmed it.

He's went from Semi Pro at South Melbourne to managing a top 6 English team with success at pretty much every stop along the way.

He might end up losing his job at Spurs and maybe sticking to his principles is a large part of that. But it's what's made him and he's right to stick to his guns of it's what he believes in.

Who else has done what he has? Barely anyone

His way to play the game will only get him so far, by not recognising this and adapting that will see his career not progress further. This isnt a weird thing to say its just the reality of what is happening.
