Both of those players are way too old to play for us now

Mentioned it before, for me I would try target a player capable of playing right back and centre back. The one I thought we might have went for was Tanganga that left spurs for Millwall.

That way the player would get opportunities to play more regularly and could keep them happy.

It is also why I think Alvyn Sanches would be a good fit for us as he would get minutes as an attacking midfielder and on either wing until he established himself.

The above also lets you move on folk like Lagerbielke, Nawrocki, Holm and Yang.

I would still want a first team ready winger to replace Palma and a starting left back to replace Taylor for definite in January but I would like a couple of versatile players.

We need to keep on developing, keep pushing..

And we need to sign quality starters. I feel we need CDM, to help us shore up games..

As well as 2 wingers and a LB.

Deffo feel like we could do with 1 or 2 utility types. Certainly at the back..

Ralston does worry me if Johnston gets injured in big games..

Someone who could easily cover centre half and right back would just give us that other option. Scales can effectively cover centre half and left back..

We know we need a left back
We all would like another left winger with real creativity, someone for the right or who can at least play both sides
A souza type 6 moving forward
A strong number 9 option who's better than Idah at holding it up and taking it on the turn but still has that pace and can finish

We won't get that in January but would like it..

    Desperately needed.

Kuhn is our only real creative threat from wide. Forrest occasionally offers it.

We’re missing MOR in the middle. Hatate and Bernardo have their moments but neither are exactly creative forces.

If Kuhn is off the boil, we find it tough.

Maybe a CB that can play CDM would be better. Hard to imagine Ralston being pushed out as the backup RB, due to the homegrown quota.

Would be brilliant to bring in a top quality defensive midfielder and a winger to take the burden off maeda and Khun...we play the Huns on the 2nd and I know bringing guys in is unlikely but would be magic if we brought in a top player with a big reputation in time for that game even on loan.. something like a Robbie Keane signing to boost us going to Ibrox and sickening them at the same time.

LB - Taylor not good enough for Europe
CDM - Enforcer type, breaks up attacks and can play forward under pressure
Winger - someone who can play in place of Kuhn or Maeda but same quality
ST - likely a Kyogo replacement in the summer

    4 positions that need investment.

I'm pushing for Toure too he's a fantastic player, he's got it all, at only 18.
Left back badly needed, I losing patience with Taylor, * was he playing at in the Cup Final ?.
Some folk saying Tierney might be coming back. But would he stay fit or be another crock like James McCarthy.? Big risk on big wages.

I don't think Taylor is signing a new contract, so I'd be tempted to buy a first team starting left back now, alternate them and Valle to bed them in with a view to CL qualifiers, and sell Taylor in January, if anyone will buy him. If not keep him as extra back up until the summer.

We will need 2 new left backs by summer anyway, as Valle isn't staying either, and it would be madness to wait to get both then.

Good call but few and far between these days, versatility is just another aspect of modern day football that is dying out.
Agree but realistically cant see it in a Jan transfer window.

If Taylor is going we should be selling now. For the summer I’d like us to bring KT back and play him CB as he does for Scotland, which suits him athletically now as it’s not as demanding as the LB role. But his quality of out ball from the back would suit us to a T.

-Need 2 left backs if we don’t plan on playing frame or Anderson.
-I’d hold off on buying a winger til the summer and try get Jota back now he’s struggling in France.
-Striker is a must as kyogo will be off in the summer I think so need someone in to settle in.
-I’d say holding midfielder but Iwata was exactly that and we shipped him off because he didn’t score enough.
-most importantly need to tie Schmeichel down to a long deal otherwise we’re in need there.

Good news with Welsh as he isn't good or reliable enough for us..

Murray I don't think is the answer due to his real lack of athleticism....but more potential than Welsh..

Getting Murray up fills a gap..

Hopefully we then get rid of Nawrocki and Lagerbielke and sign a strong defender who's got pace and comfortable on the ball..

I actually think we may be quite busy both ins and outs for a January.

    Outs
    - Welsh
    - Palma
    - Bernabei
    - Nawrocki
    - Holm

    Ins

    - Left Winger
    - Left Back
    - Midfielder
    - possibly centre back or Murray given a chance as 4th choice.

That's about it. Maybe add Lagerbielke too.

If a top striker of good age is available we should be pushing the boat out .ST, LW, LB, CDM and move on some dead wood is essential between now and the end of summer window, ideally get the guts of it done in Jan.

We NEED a decent DM . Would love to see Callum playing higher up he would be our best creative threat imo. Need a top class DM who can link defence and attack , break up play and run the game . Callum is good at it but for Europe we need an upgrade . That and another winger of Kuhn levels would transform us for the second half of season. LB and striker by the summer and possibly a fourth CB as well by the summer . We are a few tweaks away from being a top side .

I agree we’ve needed one for a long time. Cals biggest downfall is he’s that good a footballer managers shoe horn him in at the CDM position when for me that’s never his position, like you say a CM or CAM. But just can’t see the board splashing money on a top defensive player here when 90% of the season we’re attacking in the final third. I hope to be proven wrong though!

I mentioned Tanganga ages ago. Always seems pretty solid when I seen him for Spurs. Nothing special, but solid enough.
