    Won't happen..

But, he actually wouldn't get in our midfield at the moment..

Think he was a great player and still can play at a high level, but not sure there's room for him here now, even if there was any truth in it.

Don't think he's got the stamina and pace he used to have. Not so sure about signing him.

Don't think he fits the midfield we play.
He's quality and a player who would be head and shoulders, technically, above most of our players. But just don't see how he fits in to the midfield trio in the way we play.

He would also command a silly wage I think, that other teams could happily pay.

    Has more than a whiff of 2+2 = 5.

However he is a joy to watch as a footballer, silky smooth, so for that reason I’d hope there would be something in it.

Wages arent actually a stumbling block. They would definitely be a big chunk, but wouldnt break the bank.

Not a team on planet earth is even going to pay even half of his current wages, as all the money sides have zero use for him, the rest, even epl sides aren't going to pay 75k a week for a 33 year old looking for a swan song.

For arguments sake, you hand Utd a formality fee. Say 1-2m. Theyre more interested in getting his wages off the books than recouping a fee.

You pad his wages with a 2-2.5m signing on fee payable in installments , hand him 30k a week on a 2 year contract, that bumps him up to a very respectable 60 odd grand a week. Include CL bonuses, assist bonuses etc etc.
Championship manager financial fuckery yes. But more than doable.

About 6m all in for two seasons. But is he worth it?

The MAJOR issue is where would he play? We're not benching any of our current mids for him, not out of ability, but monetary value. Hatate still has to pump up his value after sliding down the past season or so, Engels just signed for a record fee, captain is unbenchable etc .

Tbh, it smacks of a sevco signing, a billy big baws, financially redundant flex. Or worse, a harkening to the dark days when we let ex epl stars treat Celtic Park like a retirement home, by signing over the hill diddies like freddie ljungberg.

Unless the manager has a real plan for him, and a tactical need for him, i would be saying * no.

Take that 6m, pad it with another 2-3m, go out and get a * LB. Taylor can ride the bench until his contract expires, and Valle is there for cover.

We should be looking at what we need. Not what we want. We're not * sevco. We dont put silk hats on pigs.

He would be a brilliant signing just like Mooy was but even better.

He'd be a joke, but not exactly the kind of player we need if we're spending big on wages.

Would definitely give us something of the ilk of Mooy but at the wage he'd cost, would he truly be someone we can afford to sit on the bench and not play more than 60 minutes a game?

Fun idea to think about because as others have said, technically would be unreal to have in the ranks, but just isn't feasible in reality

Would take him in a heartbeat.

I can see the sense in the Mooy comparison and Eriksen would offer a lot of the same qualities: creativity, set piece ability, experience, composure. Mooy was also useful in being able to compete with either Hatate or O’Riley without any drop off in quality when he played.

Engels’ domestic form has been spotty and Hatate is generally a bit inconsistent, so adding Eriksen as an option would be a great bit of business. Highly unlikely to happen though.

I don't think he'd actually start consistently for us at this point. More down to his physical attributes nowadays.

But if he wanted to do it for a year or two you couldn't say no.
