I seriously do not envy this. So many especially in the 19th century got a game here or a couple of games there. Some spectacularly random names and numbers that will have a CS accredited to them. The closest deep dive I've done is based on GKs that played at least 20 games for Celtic, as was using that as a benchmark for a sample size.

Good luck with this mate. :50:

What I really want is someone to be mental enough to try and gather old data on assists. :giggle1:

I'd love that as well, but it's impossible. Even in the era since Assist stats have been kept, I'll be damned if I'm going back through to tally all of those, lol. Some buggar who can actually see can deal with all of that, lol.

Any idea when they started being recorded?

See, even that is difficult to say definitively. Differs from country to country and club to club. I would be amazed if there are records for Celtic that go back even to WGS or MO'N time, without someone actually going back over through the footage of all those games/goals, or picking through newspaper articles etc in between, if they even mention them.

You could do it - I believe in you! :)

CalMac needs 19 to get into top 20 and Forrest needs 90 to get into top 10

Before we get to play our first Scottish Cup match CalMac should be in top 20 and Forrest could be in 12th place.

It’s taking me a while for the clean sheet stats as only up to 1901/02 season for the moment.
Using the stat book plus Celtic website.
This will have amount of competitive games played as won’t be including friendlies.
Also amount of goals scored for and against with clean sheets total and clean sheets against deadco.
Although the first match was against deadco in a 5-2 friendly the first competitive match against them was a 6-1 win.

Just got to 1910/11 season for clean sheets but also went through every season until now for total competitive matches played and currently after the 4-1 hearts game last night Celtic have played more than 6,500 matches since their first match.

Be interesting to see how high Callum can go, is 600 a realistic target ?

I think he has more of a chance of getting into the top 10 than Jamesy does. He’s probably got another 2/3 seasons in him at over 50 games a year. I reckon he will be targeting Broony in that list.

This season and all next season will bring him close so season 2026/27 could see him reach 600 and possibly overtake Broony but nowhere near Cesar.
Don’t think Forrest will reach 600

Taking a break from the stats.
Currently after the first 19 seasons Celtic have averaged 105 goals a season and 10 goals a season against Deadco.
