He doesn't seem agile enough to drop deeper and wide to create space for others in the way Kane-esque big strikers do. And he doesn't seem to get in enough good positions to be a poacher. Nor does he seem powerful enough to ragdoll defenders and create gaps that way like Sutton and Hartson did.

He will continue to score goals because that comes with the territory playing up front for celtic in spfl games. But I've never seen anything in Idah really. Obviously Rodgers and many others see and understand players far more than I do, but I just don't get it.

The only reason to be optimistic is Kuhn showing how such a drastic turnaround is possible. So not giving up on him completely but he's absolutely miles off where a 9m striker should be in my opinion

Watch the Rugby Park performance to clinch last seasons league and you’ll see exactly what he’s capable of.

You don't survive at Celtic having a performance like that every 1 in 10 games. For every rugby park last season he had an Aberdeen cup semi performance too.

That's his one standout performance, said it at the end of last season that game aside he's done nothing to convince me, and still hasn't, he's not a massive upgrade on Oh who had a good goals to minutes ratio but looked equally clumsy on the ball at times. He's not worth half what we paid for him, absolutely rinsed by english market inflation.

Saying he's not worth half of what we paid him is massively OTT. He was worth £5 million based on his stint with us last season alone, not to mention he's still a young player.

He wasn't worth £9.5 million, but we knew that when he signed, I bet Rodgers did too.

He is coming to the point where we need to see a bit more from him, but I still think he's a cracking player when he's on it and he is, unfairly, being analysed under a microscope by a large portion of our fans, Engels is the same.

I'm not directing this at you, but I wish we'd cut off players a bit of slack at times. We wrote off Kuhn last season and look at where he's at now. If Idah is at the same crossroads come the end of the season then fair enough, but we should just be backing the boy in the meantime. I still believe he'll fully come good.

That’s a nonsense, he was excellent multiple times last season.

I don’t think we’d have won the league last season without him, Kyogo was massively off form and struggling to adapt to our different style of play. He came in freshened up our attack and scored some vital goals.

He’s not started this season great but there’s mitigating factors too, he didn’t really have a proper pre-season which immediately puts him on the back foot and then since he’s come here he’s not really started many games. Often coming on late when the game is done, or when he does start he’s then back out the team for the next 5 or 6 games.

He was brutal at rugby park, so needs to do much better when he does get his chance but most of the team struggled that day and it was just a battle.

Did we overpay for him at £9.5m? Perhaps. We do need to realise though that is just the market now, especially when shopping in England. However Rodgers was getting a player he wanted, and knew he could trust so no issues with that. We have the money and can now afford to speculate to accumulate rather than taking punts in the 3-4m bracket where you will undoubtedly unearth some gems, but also end up with some * that we’ll never get rid of.

No worries about him at this stage.

If it was gonna cost Rodgers £9.5 mil for a player who realistically won us the league last year. Would show the manager the board have full faith in him and are backing him, keeping him happy. A young Irish international prospect who potentially might never leave.

I’d pay that fee 30 times over.

I can’t see Idah jumping at the first chance to play in England like any other signing does for us. And if he can score 15-20 goals every season for us for 6 seasons he’ll have been worth every penny. He’s already worth every penny by his 6 months alone anyway!

the look on the rangers fans faces when the season was almost won for them….to now. Priceless. And idah is one of the many men to thank for that

I think a problem was waiting until the end of the window to sign him. He was down at Norwich unhappy, agitating for the move while doing his preseason. If we had him up here, in a good mindset for a full preseason with our squad and manager, I think he would have gotten off to a better start this season.

If he was performing the way he did at Rugby Park last season, he would be every bit a £9m player. He really needs to find some consistency.

From 23rd november this Saturday to 1st feb which is 5.5 weeks we have 19 matches. Mental amount of games in that time so squad rotation will be vital

    Part of it yeah.

We dicked around for ages, to eventually over pay anyway.

May as well have just paid the £9m we would have known they wanted earlier and saved a lot of hassle and had him up and running by now

Yet here we are in to the second half of November and he's still in preseason excuse territory.

That's a poor show from all involved. Celtic for letting it get that long and now not able to get him sharp for some reason.
Idah for letting his preseason be that poor and not taking some profession pride and planning and then for Norwich who acted the * with him and happily sold a player in that condition.

Really shouldn't be about to put up my Christmas tree and we have a player still not match sharp.

5.5 weeks you sure about that? :56:
    Not closer to 10 weeks?
Albeit 19 games in that time is still a lot.

    Norwich’s manager tbf came out and said he was the model professional throughout so not sure that can be an excuse. Think it’s probably just more a mix of;
-our training regime and style being more demanding than norwiches.
    - Idah himself not being in the greatest of form. And when he does get on or get a chance he looks like he’s trying too hard.

he said himself the value doesn’t weigh on his mind but it has to, especially when he’s a fan of the club himself. He’ll know exactly what the fans will be thinking if he doesn’t perform.

he kind of came in with no pressure at all as he was already written off! Whereas now he’s set the bar at a level that we all expect.

I'm still okay with him being hot and cold at times. To be expected. Same for Bernardo and Engels. Albeit idah is the older of the trio, he's still early in his football career and hasn't really played a full season properly.

But for all that has been said and done, ignore the price tag as well, I want to see more performances and drive like that at rugby park end of last season, rather than that shocking performance at the last outing at rugby park.

The pitch is honking and I'm always glad just to get out of there with the points, but for some it was a poor performance, idah specially

Been really disappointing for me this season but has enough credit in the bank from his loan to tell us that he'll come good..

It wasn't just that he was scoring last year. It was the importance of the goals he was putting away and the timing of them. Showed a lot more of his technical ability in the build ups as well..

Clearly lacking in sharpness, confidence or a mixture of things..

Pretty sure he'll go on a wee run at some point soon..

Folk need to remember he’s played one full 90 minutes this season and has still stepped up with 5 goals.

He’s had half the minutes Kyogo has this season and he’s only one goal behind him.

A poor performance at Rugby Park doesn’t take away how vital he was for us in winning the league last season, or the cup.

He scored important goals at both Hampden and Ibrox. At Ibrox he was robbed of scoring the winner because Yang couldn’t close down his man well enough.

While I don't think he's worth 9.5m, his goals last season basically made us 50m, which was massive as it stopped the blue tarts from getting it and restoring financial parity with us. Last season's win is probably one of our most important league win in years as it's hobbled rangers. For that alone, he's worth 9.5m!
