Just to get nostalgic about Mike Tyson.

Imagine the hype today that would exist if there was a heavyweight at the age of 20 already got 27 wins with 25 KO's to his name and becomes a world champion.

His early career was just straight up unreal, not human. Ain't nothing like that in the sport today

I didn’t watch it but from the clips I’ve seen it looked pretty fake.

A couple of punches Tyson landed looked like they were about to knock the other guy out but he inexplicably didn’t follow up.

It seems to me extremely unnatural for Tyson not to follow up a landed punch with another. He would have to be deliberately holding back. There’s one clip where he lands and goes to follow up then stops and just stands while the other guy taunts - almost as if he knew nothing was coming.

I don’t really get this Jake/Logan Paul stuff to be honest. It’s just Blippi but for teenagers, I don’t know why folk over 16 aren’t cringing at the * and their absolute lack of patter.

I guess it’s just another generation that are simultaneously missing out on their childhood by growing up too fast but also, ironically, failing to grow up into adulthood properly.

    Ach well.

It’s explicable by the fact he was 58 years old with a busted knee off the back of a major illness and 8 blood transfusions

If you can throw a punch, you can throw two. Plenty of training clips where he does that.

If you're talking about him hitting pads, the issue is pads don't hit back. He'll know himself he's not mobile enough to be chasing anyone around the ring if that 2nd punch doesn't land and would leave him open to getting punched himself.

I think the reality is the human body probably shouldn't have that many matches at that age. He was having up to 3 fights In a month at points. Maybe it helped that most of them didn't last long but still. Constant training, where he probably needed some rest.

Nah mate the instances I’m talking about aren’t that. He rattled him on the jaw and had him staggering, he was in far more danger of knocking him out than somehow being left open.

The more you see the more obvious it is. He was blatantly choosing not to strike in case he did too much damage.

I’m not saying he would’ve won or anything like that but it was very staged. I’m kinda surprised people have been fooled.

Mate, by the third round and even within the second you could clearly see Tysons legs were going quickly or already gone.

Paul equally had Tyson stumbling early and didn't follow it up... so yeah probably helps your argument of being staged.

But overall it was clear Tyson didn't have it him to be hunting down Paul and closing down spaces as if he was in his prime.

I mean he tried too in the first round almost immediately and sent himself bouncing of the ropes because he's legs were so unsteady and struggled to balance

If you genuinely thought a few seconds of Mike going hard on the pads meant he had any hope whatsoever I can’t help you

Some amount of * going around on social media saying it was a fix and Mike was paid to go easy etc. these people are extremely out of touch with the realities of combat sports and what age actually means. Mike nearly fell on his walkout ffs.

I put a large amount of money on Jake at 1/2, my biggest wager ever by a long long way. It was as close to free money as you will ever see in your life. I’m not saying this * with hindsight.
