I have Netflix, but i will not watch a micro second of that Money machine nonsense. BTW Tyson in his prime would have destroyed that Youtube whatever his name at the very start of the first round.

It doesn’t tarnish his reputation. He looked like exactly what he is, and what anyone should’ve anticipate him looking like if they took away the Mike Tyson label - a 58 year old man who openly admits he lost his hunger for fighting at the tail end of his professional career over 20 years ago, and has spent a couple of decades facing all life has to throw at him, including addiction, depression, loss of a child etc.

In the same way, it would add nothing to Tyson’s legacy if he had won. He would get a lot of internet clout, but he’s a man who reached the pinnacle of the sport at 20 years old. It’s entirely possible that won’t be surpassed in our lifetime. He fell short of being the best heavyweight of his era, but most would still have him among the top 15 heavyweights of all time, in a sport with history dating back 100+ years.

I actually have no issue with retired fighters going back into the ring and picking up some cash, and would rather it be against a Youtuber/celebrity than a young fighter eager to make a name for themselves, and risk genuinely hurting them. It will simply never be something I watch, or that really interest me. I would prefer it be classed as an exhibition, however.

I look at it in the same vein as charity football, and nobody watching that would be surprised to see a 58 year old former world class midfielder simply get overran by a 20 year old athletic bloke.

I appreciate your feedback but my opinion and respect for the guy plummeted after last nights performance and I suspect many people may have thought the same as me.

    Are you always so dismissive?
Tysons performance was that of a 90 year old not a reasonably fit 58 year old.

How am I being dismissive? :giggle1:

Mate, you watched this with completely unrealistic expectations of what you were going to witness, and are now upset at that. Thats really all there is to it.

Tyson at his prime was likely as fit as any human can be but that comes at the cost later in life when the * could barely walk and getting carted around in a wheelchair not so long ago.

At 58 he's 100% fitter than me at 37 however if I put in the same effort I will say one thing with confidence, my legs would be far more stable now at 37.

Tyson showed that years of competitive inactivity and years of bad habits in retirement have led to his legs are utterly gone.

I am not upset about anything, just a little disappointed that a champion I respected has let himself go.
Your blunt responses are dismissive in my opinion

He looked pretty much as good and as mobile as Holyfield when Holyfield got embarrassed by Vitor Belfort.

Well, I did give you a fairly extensive response initially explaining exactly why nobody should’ve been remotely surprised at the outcome, or how Tyson looked, and why nobody who follows boxing considers him to have remotely tarnished his legacy.

His process of ‘letting himself go’ has been decades in the making and one he’s spoken about extensively, so I guess I’m just surprised to hear it was unexpected. To give his age some context, he’s older than every manager except 1 in the top leagues in England and Scotland. He would be considering retirement from most office jobs, nevermind anything physically demanding.

I’m not trying to be patronising, but whenever I see people disappointed by Paul fights it always seems to be a result of understood expectations. Wether is be seeing their favourites boxer look his age, or seeing their favourite MMA fighter perform poorly in a different sport, against a young, larger, roided up bloke who has now been training boxing for 6/7 years.

I'm not a boxing fan at all, but naturally this "fight" last night has sparked interest across social media etc.

But I assume not many 58 year olds are still boxing, let alone 90 year olds. I'd assume most retire in their 30s?

So in that way, what did you expect a retired for 20 years 58 year old to perform like?

    What a wild take :giggle1:

Mike never stood a chance in * as I said. This was honestly the biggest layup in history. Can’t believe the bookies gave 1/2 on Jake.

Saying you lost respect for Mike tonight is akin to say, saying you had lost respect for Larsson if he got a game for Barnsley and looked completely lost out there.
