Aye he was doing my nut in first 30 constantly going backwards or taking the safe option and you could tell the crowd and his teammates were getting frustrated too, but fair play to him once we got the goal and took control of the game he was excellent

He kept possession though mate which, as a said earlier, is massive against teams of this quality especially early in the game. He was also a big part of breaking their press early doors.

True mate, but I just felt on a couple of occasions a more adventurous forward pass in behind them was definitely on. I don’t mind us keeping the ball but when the chance is there to put one in behind to maeda or a more attacking pass into one of the midfielders is there he should be trying it.

Can’t argue with the last sentence, his positioning is outstanding and McGregor noticeably benefits from him being in the side.

It was his best performance for us considering what he was up against and there was more than a bit of pressure on him as many (myself included) probably thought he should’ve have been starting. More than justified it.

This. Unbelievable where he was turning up to make a pass available and keep possession. Saw him in RCM a few times. It takes incredible football intelligence to know when to do that and when to stick.

Thought he was excellent, alongside everyone else.

People honestly look for a reason to single him out at times.

He didn’t make any mistakes really and did well for the assist but found his constant backwards passing to be frustrating. We often played him into space and instead of driving forward and trying to beat a man he would stop and take the easy pass.

Sofascore has him down as completing 1 key pass out of 48 passes.

Aye it might seem petty but the narrative that people just single him out and basically invent stuff is nonsense.

Greg stepped up and did the business. I just think Valle is the better player.

He was excellent last night but think we all see him as a bit of a weak link at times. He's fantastic on the ball but he just lacks pace and height, he's usually targeted for they reasons defensively.

Watched the game back from last night, wee man was superb. One of those players that some people will just never give the credit he's due. Some of the things he does aren't flashy but so, so important. He's excellent when on form.

Personally, I think he's been a weak link too many times for me to fully trust him at that level. Admittedly, he was incredible last night.

No, mate. I gave him the credit he was due for last night in 2 posts above. Doesn't mean I have to forget Dortmund, The Cup Final last year, Bodo Glimt, etc.

And I agree. He was fantastic last night.

Taylor is on balance still a better defender than Valle who struggled to get up to pace v RB.

Valle has great potential and will be better all round player then Taylor.

It's still a weakness at LB with either player playing tbh.
