Agreed, mate; but I honestly think Trusty is partly to blame (albeit nowhere near as bad as Engels). He makes 2 mistakes IMO. First of all, he's still holding a high line even though there is no pressure on the ball, which is a problem since he's the one guy with real pace in the backline. Worse than that, though, is that he's focussed fully on his own duel and at no point does he turn his head until the ball is already past him. If he scans properly between their passes, he would have seen the gap between him and Scales and at best dropped off (and his recovery pace might just have got him back in) or at worst narrowed the gap between him and Scales and made the pass harder.

The more I watch it, though, the more impressed I am with Aberdeen's manager. Not only are the initial chip, the pass for the assist and the finish of a quality I don't expect from SPL teams; but it also seems clear that was a move from the training field. They sucked AJ out of the back 4 just beforehand and their winger kept our fastest defender pinned wide and high, leaving their quick striker isolated with Scales and a big gap to play the pass. It's the kind of goal I've seen us lose in Europe but not really the SPL.

Feel for the big man, that must have been a major shock to the system seeing his name on the bench at the expense of Trusty, think we all expected to see Scales start alongside CCV, I did anyway

He's been outstanding overall since coming into the side last season, football can be a ruthless business, shame we don't play three CBs because imagine how solid Scales, Trusty and CCV would all be together

Aye, me too, hardly put a foot wrong all season and dropped, I know Trusty played really well yesterday but just feel for Scales.

I get why people feel Scales was a bit hard done by, not getting to start against Aberdeen in such a massive game.

But I also get why Trusty was preferred for this game. Scales really has not done all that much wrong this season, but one of the few glaring errors was for the first of the Aberdeen goals in the 2-2 game. Perhaps this was what BR had in the back of his mind and that was why. I could be completely wrong, but if that is the case, I get the reason why.

You could see it when he came on, that sokler chance header. He wasn’t getting those chances when it was trusty and CCV.

Think the goal we conceded against Aberdeen the other week has cost him his place.

It’s harsh because he’s been playing out of his skin, but I think Rodgers made the right call tbh. Trusty has looked very assured the last few games.

My hope is that Scales doesn’t drop the head, and will be happy to contribute as a third choice/rotation, because he will undoubtedly still play a huge part if he does.

It definitely is mate. Rodgers admitted it post match..

And he did make the right call to be fair as we played a high line and couldn't get behind Carter-Vickers and Trusty, even once..

I agree I hope it doesn't get to him as he's been fantastic. I think Scales is maybe humble enough to realise how far he's came in such a short space of time. He'll still play a big part..

I think it's hard to judge that, it was probably the only really quality cross Aberdeen put in all game. Maybe Trusty would have headed it away, hard to say though

Genuinely don’t think it’ll bother him in the slightest. He’s improved as far as he has because of his mentality, nothing to suggest he won’t take being benched yesterday as anything other than competition for his spot.

He'll still get plenty of starts, even if Trusty is first choice in there.

CCV won’t be fit every game until the end of the season so Scales will still play a * of a lot of games. Boys a pler so will be absolutely fine

CCV and Trusty look solid, but big Sclaes looked comfy as fick when he came on. 3 genuinely good centre halfs we have now.

I'd be starting him on that abomination of a pitch at the weekend, rest CCV.

Very unfortunate he's third choice now, but that pace Trusty gives us is so important. Even at that, Scales has been first choice for us since last September, he won't be phased by a period on the bench.
