Possession is nine tenths of the law as they say! Well when we split I'd like to take every single British nuke that's on Scots soil and sell them to Russia with a heavy discount.

Actually, I'd ask for monetary dispensation and/or a settlement of some kind whereby England has to fight on your behalf for x number of years (with their military, not Scottish troops). On the note of Scottish troops, you would either need to employ them into your own military with all the same benefits or again come to a settlement (probably the same one) whereby they see out their terms with England and still get full benefits. The issue of reenlistment options could depend on what each side wants to see there.

Lastly, I'd have to ask... beyond the realm of a formidable "coast guard" and "national guard" extent, what use for a military do you have?? Do you want or need an out and out military capable of nuking people and getting you in sticky situations with stupid wars?

I just dont want to become a defenseless or pseudo-neutral country that is in reality totally dependent on America for protection. I had no respect during the cold war for neutrals that didnt contribute but knew full well that NATO would protect them too by default of geography. You dont have to go far back into history to see that you can get too complacent about these things. It may seem like no wars will ever happen again involving us directly but people have thought that before. If it hadnt been for realist voices like Churchill's we would be living in * Europe. Being totally anti-military is an idealistic ostrich aproach and one that leaves us vulernable and totally dependent on the US.

I want us to be able to defend ourselves well without relying on America. So, unless the EU stops being unrealistic/head in sand about defense and sets up a major EU military, then I want us to remain a very well armed small country and keep a small nuclear deterent. But where would this leave places like Wales?? To be honest, realistically. while the EU shows no realism, there us a very good arguement for keeping a common miltary with the rest of the 'former' UK as long as that only involved defense and we didnt get involved in wars abroad.

    Always say I'm Scottish.

When folks ask,,,are you British, my answer is always....Well, yeah, Geographically, yeah, but I'm Scottish.

Something that just doesn't turn me on to say I belong to

''The United Kingdom of Gt Britain Norn Ireland and her Majesty's Colonies of Gibraltar and Benidorm''.

    Unsexy.
