He’s the perfect blend of O’Riley and Rogic. My favourite player of this season so far, great to watch!

 

That’s actually a great way to describe him.

 

He’s as much a £10M signing as Engels, absolute terrific player to watch that can do it all.

 

I think he'll turn out better than Engels.

He's playing like a man possessed.
And truth be told I had my doubts about bernardo engels and calmac together as last season O’Riley with the other two wasn't clicking at times. But they are excellent together. Already formed a great relationship with engels as seen today with their amazing 1 touches and ball retention, transition to attack.
Just. I'm just so happy.

 

He has every chance and now the gauntlet is laid for Hatate who looks well behind both of them.

 

I said last year when he settles and is confident enough in his ability to consistently play with freedom, rather than playing it safe and contained, he’s pretty much Matt O’Riley. He has a bit to go to reach that comparison on a consistent basis of course but even stat wise never mind just watching them play, his pressing, defensive work, passing, ball retention is identical. And his creativity when he takes the option is very consistent. He just needs to take that option a bit more to reach O’Riley levels of creativity and chances made.

Selling MOR and buying Bernardo has to be (so far) one of the best transfer deals we've ever done money wise in regarding replacling a like for like player.

Again that's no disrespect to MOR but we won't miss him if Bernardo keeps developing the way he is

 

Tbf, Bernardo was far less regarded than Jota and his development had massively stalled before he came here.. and their supporters were happy to sell him for the fee agreed.

Their youth system is that good.

 

Benfica’s system is insane and if we can have a standard set up relatively low fee and 30% future profit we should milk that relationship as much as we can.

 

After selling us Jota and Bernardo especially for the prices we got, I * love them ha..

I wasn't sure the first couple of months as he hardly featured, but I should never have had my doubts. The biggest compliment I can give about the strength of the mf is we don't miss MOR, or Hatate starting.

 

Makes it look easy.

Always a sign of a good player.

He's gone up a level and him and Engles have 110% softened the blow of losing O'Riley, which we haven't missed.

That's the biggest compliment I can give to him. He just oozes class.

 

After sell ons I imagine Benfica got £14m for Jota. I imagine they are pretty happy to be honest.

 

Thought it was interesting that when McGregor went off, it was Bernardo who sat deeper, he has everything in his locker to play that position effectively.

 

He reminds me of Leon Goretzka. Physical, Fast, good both offensive & defensive. Just an all round baller

 

Once again showing his class. Never had a doubt in my mind he'd turn out to be thus good, was so obvious to me. Said it before but 6mil would have been a bargain, 3.5 is a * joke
