That’s a great deal for Benfica too in fairness.

It’s very risk averse from us and more risky but probably more lucrative for Benfica.

It also probably represents where Bernardo was in his development compared with Jota we paid more than double the fee for Jota and gave up 30%. Whereas Bernardo they got a modest fee upfront but will be hoping he kicks on and becomes an 8 figure player

Bernardo shouldn’t have lost his place but we’d broke our transfer record for Engels so we were always going to play him. This season with extra games we can actually afford to rest Calmac, personally I’d drop Hatate for Bernardo especially for Europe as Bernardo seems to shine in the bigger the stage. At end of huns game Calmac and Engels were sitting in front of the back four and I think we’ll play similarly away in Europe, with either Hatate or Bernardo further forward

That take and cross for Maeda was silky smooth. Boy is showing so much more this season, compared to last. Loving it.

The step up from last season from him is incredible. What a player.

He's ahead of Hatate for me currently.

Totally agree. He has been excellent and agreed right now IMHO our strongest midfield is McGregor, Bernardo and Engels.

Liked how he was used in McGregor's position when he went off also.

I do see him playing there, as he's class on the ball, calm and strong on it, can take it on the turn and defends superbly. Has the tools to play in there and we should be giving him games there so we don't become rattled if McGregor got injured or anything and nobody had played there.
