I was thinking our plan for him would have been go out play a full season in tough league get 40 games or so under his belt and if Taylor wouldn’t renew his deal he could come back as an option at left back with a first choice being signed, whether that’s Valle or someone else.

But if he doesn’t get that now then he is playing b team football or kicking his heels for the next 4 months. It doesn’t seem well managed at all.

Hopefully he can get out to an Ayr or Falkirk in the Championship at least then it is competing for a title hopefully playing every week. Murray seems to be doing fine at Queens Park too.

Yeah that was my thinking for him this year too. Can he still get a domestic loan to championship?

He can also go to the lower leagues down south. They have a separate loan window. From memory I think it starts a week after the transfer window closes and closes at some point in November.

Loan in general is good as it means he'll be getting plenty of game time, but felt like it would've have benefitted him a lot more going to a team in the SPFL or even the lower leagues in England, not sure how much better he'll be with another season in the Austrian second division.

My thoughts too. It's better than nothing but I think we should have sorted a better loan than this.

Good team to get game time with, hear they're quite compact.

This for me is why a Director of Football is essential moving forward. During a frantic end to the transfer window players like Anderson can get easily overlooked..

We need someone overlooking every aspect of out footballing operation. Can't all fall on Rodgers and the current staff..

Or perhaps if we had appointed someone as loan manager based on experience and qualification rather than knowing the city and already being on the books

Agree, surely whole point of loans is to progress the players and build him towards being a 1st team player.
Don't see much progression sending him back to 2nd division in Austria

Definitely a sideways loan. Should've been a better one..

Better this loan than a season in the development squad though.

Aye but that's no saying much though mate..

He should've got a loan to the top end of league 1 down here or preferably a top 6 side in our own league, which he easily could've as he's good enough going by pre season..

I don’t get why we’re risking his development plateauing by sending him to the same club (who remain at the same level of league) as last season.

Surely avoiding this sort of situation is a key part of what we pay O’Dea for as ‘Player Pathway Manager’?

Perhaps if we were more serious about developing said pathways, we wouldn’t make coordinating them a part time role, and give it to the guy who’s already got a role with the club, managing the B Team.

Just one more example of our screaming need for serious restructuring.

Wonder if the thought here with him is get the attention of Austrian clubs who might buy him. If he was in our long term plans we would have had a premiership loan arranged or loan down south

It is equally as likely, considering the lateness in which he went out on loan was due to Valle being brought in from Barcelona so late in the window, which the timing of what other clubs needed/wanted a teenage LB, couple all that with Anderson's own wanting to go to a place where he a) knew he would be playing football b) Somewhere he was familiar and comfortable with and c) Celtic may have arranged it on his behalf because of the connect between Admira Wacker and Celtic that the 2 clubs have been trying to develop and this would continue in that process.
