He absolutely should be getting judged plying with "weaker" players as a better player will stand out - Trusty didn't...

Too early to judge but he looks like a total dud.

    Am I doing it right?

I agree that Trusty was bad as well, but i said that i wont judge him because he played alongside Welsh. If you play alongside a hilariously bad defender, you have to run and cover 2 positions. Could say the same in the Welsh thread about Trusty, but we just don't know as Trusty have not played alongside a good defender yet, but Welsh has and he was still as *.

Two CBs coming out from cold, a new signing at LB against a team that whilst in the division below us, are clearly playing out of their skin and would be giving most, if not all, the teams in the SPL a run.

Much rather wait to see how the season goes and see if he gets an extended run partnering either CCV or Scales.

Wouldn't be going studs up on the guy yet. Kuhn to a good while to get going. Let's be fair to the guy.

Way too early to judge, give him a few starts beside CCV and then call it.

I understand where you're coming from/going with this, but I'd disagree to an extent... With the keeper and defenders it's very much a case of the weakest link, for me. They might look better than the rest, but rarely hold it all together by themselves. If they do, it's usually the keeper. The other fella is right about the defence pulling each other out of position/shape if it's not right. That's natural for the positions and the way they're expected to cover.

Personally, not impressed by any of the defenders to start with, and not really blaming them either. That was a complete patchwork quilt at the back yesterday, with players who hadn't, and probably won't again, played together seriously beyond training exercises. None of them did anything to stamp their right to challenge and none of them deserved to be torn apart over it either.

Yesterday was an exercise in Rodgers playing the squad during some heavy fixture congestion. It was actually good management to play with the depth and keep our powder dry with the actual 1st team as much as possible. We subbed on strength and showed what we actually could do in the end. Extremely unlikely we see that kind of weakness in more than 2-3 games this season, if at all again

I’ve seen him play in the prem last season against both Everton and Liverpool, playing for Sheffield Utd or not he was * hopeless.

I didn’t want us to sign him in the first place but when we did like any other player we sign I want to get behind him. But he didn’t look great at all.

People will blame Welsh but it wasn’t all his fault.

Honestly hope he does come good and we haven’t wasted all that money.

Welsh played better than trusty and also showed more courage to bring the ball out or be an option at least for the pass. Thats the one thing I saw from trusty I didn’t like…that CCV or scales have in abundance. that they have the confidence to get on the ball. A £6m man with the experience trusty has should have that as a given.

Not going to judge him massively after that. Not played in a while and surrounded by fringe players, however we really don't have a great track record with CBs signed under Rodgers.

Certainly no way should he be written off given that entire back up literally never played a game together before. Having said that he had a poor debut start so he clearly has work to do.

Same with Valle, but I'll properly judge him when he's had a run in our regular defence.

Think it's almost a stick on he plays against St Johnstone, will be interesting to see how he does.

We have little choice but to play him at RCH on Saturday. Not ideal but he has to step up.
At the end of the day, its only St J.

I don’t believe the utter pish people come out with claiming they’ve watched him before.

Aye, you watched a game he played in. You were not sitting evaluating him in the hope that he joined us. I also don’t trust the footballing judgement of 95% of people in here.

Give the * a chance. It’s pure embarrassing having a wee meltdown after that game.

Still a chance Welsh plays given it's the RCB position, Nawrocki too for the same reason.

Will be interesting to see what Rodgers does as if it is Trusty then he's obviously 3rd choice CB.

Nawrocki is probably a no given he can't be match sharp enough yet so likely between Welsh and Trusty for Sunday I would think.
