Not to get carried away with one game but Engels is winning POTY.

 

Yep, very impressive

 

Immediately obvious that he’s a talent. Some of his touches were fantastic.

 

Looked like he has been playing for us for years.

 

Good performance. Interested to see how he performs in Europe.

 

He oozes class

 

Think he will learn that domestically he has a bit more time and can turn out and move forward when receiving ball to feet- he was popping it straight backwards to the passer a fair bit ( a by product of playing in the Bundesliga for a mid table team who won't be as dominant and he will be used to being under more pressure in those areas ) . He has the qualities to take full advantage once he truly realises he can completely dominate this league.

 

Looks classy. Thought he got caught on the ball once or twice but nothing major and took his goal well. Think he's gonna be quality.

 

Thought he was really good. That * Penrice left one on him a couple times early on. He didn't make anything of it but dominated him the rest of the game, had him on his * a few times.

 

I think this will be a case of enjoying him while we can, he is destined for the top and only just turned 21. He fit into the system like he’s been playing for us for 2 years, excited to see him continue to improve.

 

Underwhelmed by today's performance. But not reading too much into it.

 

First start did the basics. Needs time to bed in but looks a very intelligent player

No. On the train on the way back from the game. Read through the previous replies and was quite surprised at how positive they were. So much so thought about not posting.

Thought he was quite slack with his passes and tackling, mostly early on. Wasn't really impressed at all other than his snap shot which almost went in. Seemed to drift about a bit without much purpose to me. Maybe it's just me or there's a different perspective on things being at the game from watching on TV.

Anyway first start done and got a goal which hopefully gives him confidence.

 

He'll replace Matt, and possibly surpass him. Won't even take that long either once he settles. That's how you do it celitc. Some signing.

 

Always interesting what you see and miss at games themselves. You see a lot more and a lot less at the same time. For me, he looked quality but not settled in yet.

What did you think of the new signing Arne Engels? He was named player of the match, scored the penalty and he nearly had another.

He had two great opportunities. One was in the box when he failed to warp his foot around it and it went over the bar and he had another off the post with a bit of quick thinking from a throw-in. He did that well. He's going to be a really good player. He's tall and athletic. He can run and his touch is good. He presses and counter-presses, I really like him and that's why we brought him here and at 21 years of age he is only going to improve. I am so pleased for him and he gets the penalty and he shows his courage to take it and score.




Does Arne take penalties as it looked as if Reo Hatate had the ball at first?

Reo was our number one penalty taker and Arne was number two. They trained on Friday with Jack Lyons and he looks after those guys on the penalties. Both of them were very good. In terms of the taking of it, I think Reo's selflessness got the better of him and he gave it to Arne. I am just happy he scored or you might have heard about it! You could see how comfortable he was taking it as he showed great composure and put it away well.

 

I don't mean this in a snarky way but I think you're the first person I've seen have this opinion, I thought he was excellent today
