It's a bit of a riddy when you can hear that from the other side of the stadium tbf

But without them the atmosphere is rotten

You can’t seriously think there was a good atmosphere at every domestic game before the Green Brigade?

 

All seater stadiums killed the atmosphere a bit.

Rangers games or big European games at the old celtic park were bedlam, best atmospheres I've heard.

 

A lot of the season ticket holders are older now as well,they aren’t going to be jumping about singing non-stop for 90mins like they used to.

 

I agree, i lived in Glasgow and went to games weekly around 98-03ish. I remember the very first game against Dundee utd and it was very flat. Which was the case for most home games apart from huns and Europe. Or like against St. Mirren when we won the league.

The people attending games have changed significantly over the years. Those attending are older, more affluent, and there's a lot more women. It's not just us, it's across football.

The atmosphere is a casualty of that but at the same time you don't need to worry about someone peeing against your leg in the jungle so it's swings and roundabouts really.

There was always atmosphere at certain times, but a 2-0 against a Killie bog standard week in week out domestic victory? Nah, from mid-90’s my first game (3-0 vs Aberdeen in the temp stand at the time that) the atmosphere would be silent at times, stadium empty at the end. Games on a knife edge, aye atmosphere, late winners electric, hun games, Europe aw * it could be through the roof. But lets not pretend thats all games. And before the singing section/standing section and it got stuck all in that corner for the buzz? It was horrific.

 

In areas of the stadium that want * sitting on their * shutting up thats usually the ones bold enough to try and create any atmosphere, stand up and chant. Guys don’t usually, outwith the odd mwi * shouting at others to do join in doing * nuts in.

 

The shift to an all-seater stadium played a massive part in that. I don't think people can really imagine how different it is. It's like the difference between going to a gig where everyone's standing compared to where everyone's seated. Sadly, I think those days are probably gone forever. They'll never reintroduce terracing across an entire stand for a variety of reasons.
