Would like to see that modernisation aswell, but it's not an either/or thing. We can promote within as well as look elsewhere, it's not necessarily a bad thing having people at the club who know the club.

But aye I would welcome a bit more innovation behind the scenes, 100%.

So you expect the manager of our or any football club to come out and say he's * off straight away? Of course not he's not stupid. He towed the party line until he couldn't anymore.

Stevie Wonder could see he wasn't happy. But like I said in the end we got a few players in (later than we should have) so hopefully we can see improvements I'm Europe. Lessons learned for future windows.

Dress it up any way like like, he knows how these things work. Annoying as it is having to wait to get our business done, fact is we're not the only ones who decide what happens. Throwing tantrums multiple times a day about it doesn't change a thing.

I think the signing of Engels actually gives more justification to what a lot of fans main gripes were. The main thing fans have been angry with is the lack of ambition. We’ve just signed a 20 year old soon to be Belgian international from one of the top 5 leagues in Europe. It just goes to show what we can attract to our club when you are prepared to pay the money. Too many fans have been programmed to think we can’t attract a player of that profile for a number of different reasons. The fact is though, we are a huge club, and if you are willing to pay the money, the players will come.

    This for me:
'fawning over a board for spending less than they took in is quite pathetic, especially trying to characterise it as some sort of gotcha to fellow supporters who've been asking for ambition for a decade'.

For those who are in love.....
Was pretty calm the whole window in the main..

Did want maybe 1 or 2 more in but I'm content for now..

Sunday's result didn't change that either way. I didn't feel any nerves going in to it.....I know we're levels above them in every department..

I still wanted another winger brought in and there’s clearly room for improvement in how we operate. The previous two transfer windows caused a lot of fans, including myself, to doubt the board.

That we left the January transfer window with one left back at the club was sheer stupidity, for example.

If we genuinely do only focus on one deal at a time, then we need recruitment to ensure we have the manpower to avoid that going forward.

I don’t think we have an issue identifying players who are good enough, I think the problem lies somewhere between contacting targets and negotiating bids and contracts. The buck stops with Nicholson.

On paper I’m pleased with our incoming and outgoing transfers, just need to see how the new players perform now.

A win over a terrible hun side, whilst extremely satisfying shouldn’t be used as a yardstick to measure how good our summer was. Once the villa game is out of the way we’ll be in a far better position to make that assessment.

For me it’s not quite as bad as what we (myself included) were making on, but there’s so much improvements we can make which will allow the club to realise its full potential. We’re still a winger light I feel albeit the squad and coaching staff are looking very healthy.

Now the window is out the way, so much work needs to go into how we go about business as a football club, starting with getting a proper scouting team in place. For me that entire window rested on Rodgers identifying players and just hoping the board were able to loosen the purse strings sufficiently, which shouldn’t be the case.

A proper, fit for purpose recruitment team should already be in place, looking at areas we need to strengthen, players who’ll likely need replaced and identify these replacements months in advance making deals smoother and windows less stressful for all.

It took a long time to get the business done. I did think we left ourselves with a significant amount of work to do in the last week. We trimmed the squad very nicely. Firstly kudos to everyone getting that done.

Think we leave the window behind with a significant trading profit overall too (even though we know fees are paid over X years on contract).

Brendan like us all must have been frustrated and I do think we are maybe 1 wide player short of some real quality and that's why we targeted bougsz and isaksen in the last week.

We know the cash is there to do that in January if need be. But for now I would like the squad to be settled and we have 3 home games in a row now that we really should be winning.

Football is fluid, fast and dare I say like when brendan first arrived in 2016.

Board still * though my opinion will.never change on that.

To be fair to the nae sayers, they werent reacting to this window in a bubble. They were reacting to an absolute failure of a January window and the very high risk approach we took in not strengthening the team properly to win the league last season.

So you might argue that because we won the league, it all worked out fine and it showed we didn't need to strengthen in January. But really we needed to depend heavily on rangers bottling it, and a last minute loan deal orchestrated by Rodgers, to get over the line. Even Forest deciding not to go on loan. Just lots of variables we ended up on the right side of. There was no need to cut it that fine sitting on over 50m quid. And that's just focusing on beating a broken rangers never mind Europe.

That's really where the negatively came from and it was valid.

I'm still bathing in the tears of suicidal huns at the moment and so should we all. I will wait until the very last drop of them before I can comment on this peculiar thread.

Delighted with the business on the last day, albeit I’d have loved a winger in, even on loan, that was capable of playing on either side. An injury to Kuhn and we’re in trouble from a creative standpoint.

The fact the manager is coming out publicly and is actively opposed to the pace at which we conduct our business, and the structure upon which said business is based upon, simply confirms what the majority of supporters have been concerned about for the last few years at least.

The signing of Engels demonstrates a willingness to take our recruitment process to the next level which is brilliant and is what the vast majority of fans have been calling for.

As much as a convincing victory against them is great, is shouldn’t be used as a barometer as to how well we’re doing as a club. Thankfully, we have a brilliant manager who agrees with that.
