Congrats to JF for his 500th appearance today for the Hoops!

Although JF tally obviously majorly assisted by a) there beng subsitotes. b) allowed to use 3 subs c) and now in an era of allowing 5 subs, but still it's an impressive achievement.

Next game that he features in he will equal Jimmy McGrory.

On a day when Celtic supporters celebrated a superb performance from the team which delivered a 3-0 victory over Rangers at Paradise, there was another reason to celebrate.

Because James Forrest’s introduction as a substitute in the 72nd minute also marked a momentous milestone in the shape of his 500th appearance for Celtic, becoming only the 13th player to hit that number.

Not surprisingly, Paradise rose to acclaim a great Celt, who had made his first appearance back on May 1, 2010, when he came on as a substitute and scored in a 4-0 win.

And while Forrest didn’t mark his 500th game with a goal, he was still delighted to play his part in a dominant derby win for the Hoops.

Speaking to Celtic TV after the game, the 33-year-old said: “It’s hard to describe. When you come through here as a young player you’re buzzing when you make your debut and I’ve just kicked on since then and it’s been really good personally and for the club over the past few years.

“It’s been very successful and I’m absolutely delighted.

“Today, the boys from the start were unbelievable. Coming into games like this, it’s always hard whether you’re at home or away from home, it’s always difficult but the boys stuck at it – the ones who started the game and the ones who finished it – and we showed that we’re a real team.”

500 appearances. I was 7 when he started. He's had his ups and downs but he's been a fantastic servant and has contributed to the great success we've had. Legend.

Really is special to see a modern day legend make a milestone appearance like he did today. A model professional and someone every single youth player at the club should aspire to follow.

Not unrealistic to think he could hit 600.

If guys like McCowan are living the dream then what can you say about Forrest.

He’s taken some stick over the years and there’s been times where he’s had to play second fiddle but his professionalism and attitude is why he’s been so successful.

Any time he’s asked to step in, like the end of last season, he steps up to the plate.

He’s earned the right to be called a club legend in my opinion.

500 games and is getting better with age.

Seems to read the game much better than he did even a year or so ago. Decision making is getting better too.

Can only imagine what he'll be like when he's 40.

Probably gone under the radar but he might have the best Derby record in the history of the game, today was his 30th game and 21st win.

To do that he would need to play all of this season and next.

Thinking of he can stick out 3 more seasons and get to 36.
60 matches a year, approx, 180 over 3 seasons, if he was to play in half the mstches, he would be getting close.

This season I have a feeling we will see him in most games at some stage. So could hit 40 this season. Then another 30 each of the two following year's before retiring.

One club man, 500 matches, always there when needed, always performs barring injury, speaks highly of the club and keeps his nose clean (mostly!)...

    I'd say he's a club legend already.
