Isn't that to do with their age at a very specific registration point? If you were say 17 on the registration date, and 18 the next day, you'd still be u18 until the next registration date a year later...

I think Bernardo is comfortably ahead of him tbh, obviously too early to say McCowan will definitely be but I think he'll step up as well.

Still young so has time, but I'd have 100% loaned him out and maybe used Turley as the 6th choice.

Based on what I've seen of him so far, he's pretty 'meh'. Doesn't appear to excel at anything in particular and no prospect of him getting much meaningful game time in the near future.

I really like him, great movement, good on the ball, good passer, good first touch. He needs to bring it all together consistently though, he has that young player thing where it comes in bursts and not in a steady rhythm. He could push on, not certain he will but with Iwata leaving he has stepped up a squad place. Upto him to grab an opportunity

I've posted up the actual rules a few times, they need to be under 21 when the season starts AND have been at the club for 3 years since the age of 15. None of the 6 we already had on loan met those criteria, nor does Holm. There are probably a few from the B team that do, but that doesn't help here.

U21includes 21 year olds so I think Murray and Tobi's loans don't count.

Hopefully we sell Bernabei in January and send someone else out.

I think so mate. It's confusing as * tho. You end up with guys 22/23 playing in euro u21 championships due to it

He's done very well to still be here. Hopefully he breaks into the team this year.

I wasn't counting Murray. As I said they need to be U21 before the season starts, Tobi's birthday was at the start of May so he takes up a slot.

The wording from fifa is the issue but I'm pretty sure Tobi doesn't count, neither does Murray.

As an example have a look at Chelsea's current loan players.

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chelsea_F.C.

There is at least 8 of the 19 who if we go off wording from fifa that would qualify as one of the designated 6 loan spots due to either being over 21 or not being at the club for long enough to qualify as home grown.

The 8 are; Sterling, Broja, Ugochukwu, Santos, Kepa, Petrovic, Chalobah and Anselmino.

So either domestic loans don't count or its either 21 and under or homegrown.

It's a mindfuck created by * poor wording from Fifa

I really don’t know what to make of this guy, he came as a highly regarded young player, has been here for a year and never really stepped up yet, hopefully we see the best of him in the coming season?

Was surprised he wasn't sent out on loan to be honest, not sure how much game time he'll see. Don't dislike him, just seems he will be pretty far down the line.

I'm definitely not going to argue the wording is shocking, I said on another post the rule is written for lawyers and not for football people. I can't say whether the Chelsea loans are as per my interpretation of the rules or not, and honestly I can't be arsed going through and checking them as that would be tedious as *!

I agree Dane Murray counts as an exemption, as his 21st birthday is after the end of last season, where Tobi's was during it so I don't believe he gets an exemption. I'm willing to accept I could be wrong, but I think if I were Liam Shaw would definitely be away on loan even if Holm were kept.

The way I see it if your interpretation is right then I really don't see us wasting 1 of the loan slots on our 4th choice keeper when there are a good few others who would benefit from it.

BR obviously see's something in him but a loan would have been the best option for him. No point a guy his age playing 5-10 mins of football every few weeks.

Again it's a * up from the club and poor development of youth players.

But to go back to my point on Chelsea if your interpretation of it is correct as you believe, they have 8 players on loan. Surely someone at FIfa/uefa/epl would have realised they were in breach of it.

To save you the leg work....

    Kepa is 29
    Petrovic 24
    Sterling 29
    Chaloba 24
    Broja. 22

Santos 20 (only been there 1 year)
Ugochukwu 20 (only been there 1 year)
Anselmino. 19 (signed 2 weeks ago and loaned straight back)

Based on that I'd say your interpretation of the ruling is wrong

Shoulda been a loan and would have retained Iwata for depth to see how his loan went. He needs minutes.

For sure regardless of what happens with Valle Baernabei hopefully is sold in January. He just isn't going to ever be good enough.

I guess as soon as the call was made on Iwata, Holm was never going anywhere.
Right now, he is needed due to lack of midfield depth, can see him coming on in most games.
