I'd like to see Holm go the other way.

Obviously just a squad addition but hopefully can make a good impact and utilised in the squad give some midfielders a day off after Europe don't see the harm.

Totally different positions/roles. Really don’t understand the dislike Iwata gets, hasn’t ever put a foot wrong when called upon

    Are they?

McCowan seems to mostly play central as an 8 or 6 now. Same position as Iwata..

Iwata just hasn't really looked that good at all. Has he had a single standout game?

He was woeful at Tynecastle as I've mentioned before that he started..

Iwata doesn't offer much to us.

    Mccowan undoubtedly would.

Iwata has never been an 8 so you’ve just answered your own question there mate by saying mccowan plays further forward. Iwata’s game has never been about doing anything fancy. He wins the ball back and plays it to someone else, basics and does them very well. For a period he looked like what we were missing defensively…then just stopped being picked.
42 appearances for us and you’ve picked out 1 bad game. im not saying he’s the messiah, just pointing out he’s done nothing wrong either

    I agree.

He'd be the Huns best midfielder. Genuinely.

I think the one thing Iwata really provides that no one else in our squad does is the ability to shore up the midfield to see games out.

For talking sake, we’re 1-0 up on Sunday and need to make a defensively sound substitution to replace a knackered midfielder… who else is there? Unless we’re bringing in someone who plugs that gap, I’m not wholly comfortable letting Iwata go.

Agree but I think Engels could be more defensive than some people are thinking.

It may also be the case that we want to fill that position too. I dunno. I think we could have 2 midfielders coming in.

As much as I thjnk we lack a good CDM I think it's quite clear Rodgers would rather 3 midfielders who can all play the 6 or the 8 or the 10. Tbh i don't mind that.

If we are set up right and structured then the need for a CDM isn't as evident. But time will tell.

I think he's done ok as well when he's been asked. He's sometimes looked a little rusty and taken too long on the ball but I'd expect that when we've used him as sparingly, think he's been pretty useful when required.

surprised we are not looking to bring Armstrong back to add depth to midfield and fulfill our homegrown quota

Totally agree, think we could come unstuck in Europe though if we don’t have that one player sitting deep. Think Rodgers has plans to play calmac further forward finally too which I’m buzzing about. We’ll get to see the best of him this year I reckon. Poty incoming

He could still come in, but he doesn't have to sign by the end of the transfer window, so in theory he could come in next week.

They’d be mental to not have asked the question to Dundee. Luke’s probably swiftly completely shut the idea down, being a diehard Tim. Sorry Rangers ahaaaaaa 3 in a row.
