Goodluck to him, seemed he wasn't fancied from the start. No idea why we signed him

FC Twente has strengthened its selection with Gustaf Lagerbielke. The 24-year-old Swedish central defender is being rented from Celtic for a season. The rental agreement does not include an option to buy.

When I heard about FC Twente’s interest, I was immediately interested,” says Gustaf Lagerbielke. “FC Twente is a club with a rich history and the team has achieved good successes in the last four years. After my conversation with the trainer, I got a good idea of the plans and I wanted to go to FC Twente. Next season, I hope to play as much as possible, to finish as high as possible with FC Twente in the competition. Of course, I am also looking forward to the matches in Europe.”

“With the arrival of Gustaf Lagerbielke we have the desired reinforcement for our defense and with that the central positions are well occupied,” says Arnold Bruggink. “Gustaf is a physically strong defender who is both defensively and offensively strong in the air and has a good pass. He is comfortable on the ball and fits well in the Dutch competition.”

Gustaf Lagerbielke (Stockholm, April 10, 2000) played in the youth of FC Djursholm and made the switch to AIK at a young age. In Sweden, Lagerbielke played for Vasalunds, Sollentuna, Västerås, Degerfors and Elfsborg. In the summer of 2023, Lagerbielke continued his career at Scottish Celtic. Lagerbielke played two international matches for Sweden and scored once.

Think he'll do well over there. Hopefully gets a good permanent move next summer

Happy with this. If he does well over there, it means we have bargaining power when it comes to selling in 2025.

Hope he kills it over there.

Wanted a fee or obligation but at least off the wage bill. Seems a good professional and best of luck.

It still baffles me how we could scout him and think he's a good fit for a side who play a high line in 95% of our games. You can be a good player and have good attributes and still be a terrible for a team based on their style. Baffling our recruitment team couldn't see that.

Was he not offered to us by Starfelt's agent? Absolutely no scouting involved whatsoever. Just a couple of * sipping cognac and saying you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours. That's the impression I got.

Would be good to see what he can do regularly at a decent level.

Great attitude. Hope he smashes it over there and I wouldn’t be surprised if he does.

Don’t think he has the pace for us but also think he deserved more of a chance.

Given what a farce his time at Celtic was you really have to give great credit to him for his attitude and professionalism. Hopefully for all concerned he has a really good season with them and that leads to a long term deal elsewhere for him. He deserves it.

Strange signing from us. Don't think he's a bad player, although lacking in pace.

I'm glad there isn't an option tbh.

I have a feeling he Will impress over there and if he does others e.g. Ajax or Feyenoord may come calling and it gives us the potential of even making money off him.

I never thought he was that bad. Strange how frozen out he was, swear him and Scales kept 4 clean sheets in 5 or something including Ibrox when we ended with a back 4 of Ralston Lager Scales and Lee Naylor.

Think he’ll do alright in a team that has to defend a lot. Lack of pace is an issue for a team like us.
