I'd 100% be a straight loan deal if we had any chance, but if we got this guy in + Engels we would be laughing in midfield.

A midfield 3 of Endo, Engels and McGregor would be phenomenal, with Hatate and Bernardo swapping in.

This is where we should be going for loan signings imo, players who are just out our reach but would make a massive difference coming in, I think Liverpool would likely want around £13 million for him so even on a LTB It's not something I see us doing, but you never know.

I think you got a bit carried away the further your post went :56:

As you initially said, a straight loan would be the only option here. There absolutely no chance at all that we’d spend anything close to £13m on a 31 year old, never mind loaning him for a year and then spending it on a 32 year old.

Completely agree that this is the type of loan we should have an interest in though - players who we couldn’t afford to sign otherwise but add real quality in a problem area.

As good as he is, seen a lot of comments saying Slot doesn't want him as he doesn't have "the legs" to get about the pitch. He's also quite small.

I think if we were to spend a lot of money I'd rather take what you'd spend on him and sign Engels AND Tesseman.

We need some height and versatility in there.

Don't see anything in this tbh.

Would be absolutely delighted if we got any 2 out the 3 of them in. Preferably the same 2 you said tho.

If we get Engels, Beck and this guy, and a 3rd backup striker, i think we will go unbeaten in the league this season.

Rodgers mentioned looking at the Asian market in his interview on Friday, wonder if Endo was on his mind.

I would assume he meant players who are playing in Asia. Markets are all about supply and demand. Liverpool would demand an inflated fee for Endo, hence he belongs in the english market.

He said that? I was looking for anything like that on the net, but couldn't find anything.

Be a bit of a stretch considering he’s not played in Asia for years.

9:10 from his interview on Friday. He says Asian players, not necessarily players based in Asia. So Asian market wasn't correct but made me think of Endo when he said it.

    https://www.caughtoffside.com/2025/01/12/wataru-endo-transfer/

Liverpool midfielder Wataru Endo is attracting plenty of interest in this January’s transfer window, sources close to the situation have informed CaughtOffside.

The experienced Japan international has struggled to hold down a regular place in Arne Slot’s side, and sources have confirmed that he is “unhappy” with his lack of playing time and open to leaving Anfield this month.

Endo has always performed well whenever called upon, showing himself to be a good squad player for Liverpool, but it’s perhaps not too surprising that he’s not pleased with that kind of role.

Fulham are now weighing up a move for Endo before the end of the month, CaughtOffside understands, while others like Wolves, Ipswich Town, AC Milan and Celtic are also monitoring the 31-year-old’s situation

It will be interesting to see how Liverpool approach this situation, as Endo could still end up having an important role to play over the course of a long and challenging season.

Slot will want to be able to rotate his team from time to time, so it may be that LFC will end up blocking any efforts made by other clubs to lure Endo away.

At the same time, however, there seems little sense in keeping an unhappy player, and sources have indicated that Liverpool could consider selling Endo for the right offer.

We don’t need him. We are strong enough in midfield. Other areas need strengthening fist

We're definitely not strong enough in midfield.

We have needed a combative CM/DM that's better than Iwata was. McGregor needs help in there especially in Europe and lately v The Hun.

We do need another midfielder but I don't think we will put any decent money towards a 31 year old.

Sorry I meant it’s not a priority in this window. I’m sure we will look in the summer. For me a winger LB and CF comes first. We never spend big in January

''sources have indicated that Liverpool could consider selling Endo for the right offer''.

Agreed he'd be an amazing signing. Unfortunately, the EPL market is massively inflated. Liverpool in particular are asking for crazy money. Highly doubt we'd be willing to match Liverpool's asking price. I guess we might have a puncher's chance if Maeda, Kyogo and Hatate convince him to force his way to Celtic.
