He's part of that structure, he defended that structure last summer and winter. He gets a pass for that cause he was just in the door last summer and working with incompetence in Lawell Jnr and Dudgeon through that and the winter. He's been here a year now. And things aren't better in the structure, or recruitment wise, yet the soundbites are being reeled off.

He should be driving the change for the structure. And it should have been done a long time ago. Making excuses whilst we regress, whilst a lot of the problems are above him also, will wear thin very quickly.

The quality over quantity argument isn't looking great for him either.

He's not the focal point of this * up of a window, but he'll be drawn in to it quickly. And he needs better answers than what he's given so far about recruitment. Fans will be *. And he'll cop it, if he's fronting for the parasites above him.

The only way he can build on his successes with some fans is if he gets into a time machine and goes back to 2018 and not move to Leicester until the end of the season.

Even then, he’d have some * mouthing off about him.

Rodgers reports to the board, the board doesn't report to Rodgers. All he can do is voice his displeasure or resign. He cannot force the board to sign players nor can he change the structure of the club.

I've not heard him make any excuses this summer. He's been quite clear about what he wants and what he thinks he needs. Assuming he's also made his feelings more clear behind closed doors what do you want him to do?

If you judge him on what his role is actually measured on, he's won the double last year and so far we've looked better this season than we did a year ago. He's even bailed us out bringing in the likes of Idah and Schmeichel without any support from the infrastructure at the club.

It's wild to me that anyone looks at the state of celtic off the park at the moment and thinks Rodgers is in any way to blame.

    This.

Any anger shouldn't go towards him. I get what people are saying but asking him to make public actions of displeasure towards the board is just not realistic.

We don't know what's going on behind the scenes.

I think anyone who believes he's sitting twiddling his thumbs taking it all on the chin is being naive though.

Rodgers is responsible for us winning the double last season, not the Board.

I honestly believe with a lesser manager we could''ve lost the League, he showed all his experience and composure when the going got tough.

Yeah I said similar last week.

Brendan has a unique quality where he can mesmerise the majority of the support into thinking he's got nothing to do with our transfer dealings, despite being the manager (the most important figure at the club).

..like he's a bystander and a complete victim of the recruitment. He's not solely to blame, I wouldn't even say he's the one we should be pointing the finger at the most. I'd probably have him at the bottom of that list before anyone pipes up. But he's still a part of it, a symptom of it, if you will.

A more ruthless, assertive guy would have these guys working tirelessly like Ange did. Rodgers seems all too relaxed for my liking. He purposefully creates the distance between the club and himself so that if the recruitment goes bad, none of the blame will fall on his lap.

Again, the parasites and/or incompetents at this club need booted. We all know who they are. But Rodgers is historically trash in the transfer market at every club he's been at. There's a common theme here that fans don't want to acknowledge.

He was trash enough to win the FA Cup with Leicester using a squad he had added to.

I take the point but his issue with the market here in his previous spell was quite clearly not entirely down to him.

He's not blameless bit it's also not as black and white as some fans seem to claim. That he literally targeted every player and had no other choice.

He was quite clearly handed players here in his previous spell. A number of examples of him wanting a better quality or a certain player and he was given the cheaper option.

That's not on Rodgers. Thats the board. And it's happening again it would appear.

Also let's not pretend that Ange was perfect in the market and he somehow had everything running like it should be. That's romanticising things mate. He had his own issues with the board and with player incomings.

Anybody targeting Rodgers for this window needs looked at, as do the people saying they hope he "walks" to show one up on the board.

Rodgers has mesmerised the support into thinking he’s got nothing to do with our transfer business and Ange has mesmerised the support that much they’re rewriting history.

It's not black and white, no. Just seems like a massive coincidence that whenever Rodgers manages a club, it is marred by shoddy recruitment.

He may not be the main instigator, although you would have to ask the Leicester and Liverpool fans what went on behind the scenes when he was there. Just don't think we should be absolving him of any blame either. Whoever the manager is, they need to take accountability for the dross they sign. Same with Lennon, same with Ange, etc.

People have no real problem in doing that with previous managers. But with Rodgers he gets a free pass - I find it utterly bizarre if I'm honest.

Tell me, was our recruitment good during Ange's second season?

You're pinning part of the blame on Rodgers for this window being poor, yet it's pretty evident that our last 4 windows prior to this were abysmal, and Ange was the manager for two of them.

Here's the thing, nobody, rightfully, blamed Ange for the poor windows during his second season, because it was, rightfully, pinned on the board, why has that suddenly changed now that Rodgers is in charge?

I agree with this, especially the first paragraph. Other managers get the flak for transfer business but somehow with Rodgers we seem to only blame the board, despite this being a recurring theme throughout his whole managerial career.

Anyway, somehow I'm still optimistic that we'll see some quality in the door over the next week.

He's not solely to blame. He's not close to the top of the list either.

He's a great coach, and I agree without him last season we would have struggled to win the league. His character shone through after a very rocky period , which he himself didn't seem 100% at the time.

If he makes comments about being happy with the way things are behind the scenes, which he has done, which is a defence of of the suits, and does it publicly. Then he'll be questioned on it. You fly wi the crows, you die with the crows so to speak.

But coaching the team, I am fully onboard there. He's done a great job.

MY original post was probably best saved until after the window.

My issue with pinning it on any manager is the fact that I don't believe with this celtic board that it is solely down to the manager.

I firmly believe that Rodgers, Ange, Lennon and even Deila can spot a player. But definitely feel like they are forced to go with what they are handed. It's quire evident our recruitment model is very strict and can lead to a higher risk of transfer.

When you are primarily working with 1-4m players that is naturally going to happen and then will lead to all the blame going on managers when I don't think it's as easy as that.

Last year for example, I don't think Rodgers identified a single player or was 100% happy with any. Palma for example- he is the anthisesis of what a Rodgers winger should be.

It jusr doesn't add up and for me there's too many rumours and in many cases evidence of our shoddy way of approaching recruitment foe me to blame a lot on managers.

I wasn't even blaming Ange there btw. What I meant was that it wasn't perfect under him either and he had to push to get things done. He had the fortune of us coming off a stinking season and therefore as history shows us the celtic board seem suddenly more willing to act quickly. We aren't proactive.

Of course I'm pinning part of the blame on him. He's the manager ffs.

By February 2022, Ange had already overtaken Rodgers regarding successful transfer windows. People got taken in by Ange and the love-in, and having two extremely successful transfer windows consecutively banked him some cash with the support.

In hindsight, he operated poorly in his next two. I can admit that, so he had a 50% success rate (2/4). On the other hand, we've had 1 good window from 8 under Rodgers. That's a cold, hard fact.

Blaming the board completely is a very black and white approach. At the same time, blaming Rodgers would be too. Seeing the grey would be to recognise that the board and recruitment are a * joke, without letting the manager get off scott-free for his involvement (or lack thereof).

What do you expect him to say in front of the media? Genuinely?

I'm not being smarmy. I just don't think it's realistic for a manager to publicly slander his employers no matter how bad things appear behind the scenes.

It's just not his style either.

Is there a perfect thing to say that will appease all of the fans all of the time?? Of course not. I'm not that naive. Nor do I think your being smarmy either.

Rodgers is very skilled in from of the camera and usually gets thing correct when speaking. But what i don't want to hear is how difficult it is to recruit. We heard that in January. It didn't wash then, and it won't wash now. Most fans thought the same in the winter....and would appear so now.

That's why, originally I said I'm bored with his soundbites. Maybe a little premature with a week to go, but I'm just very weary with how we act, amd communicate and have been for a while.

A big part of a managers job is steadying the ship when the waters get choppy, Rodgers has to find the balancing act between what's said in public and behind closed doors.

He's a winner, that's what you want in a manager, but i also firmly believe this time around he's doing the job because of his love for the club.
