Celtic have told KV Mechelen that Stephen Welsh is not available for a transfer at this stage of the window.

Sky Sports News revealed last month that the Belgian Pro League club had made a loan offer for the centre-back.

It’s understood Celtic are still assessing their centre-back situation and don’t want to lose Welsh at this stage.

The Hoops are open to offers for centre-backs Gustaf Lagerbielke and Yuki Kobayashi. Lagerbielke is attracting interest from a number clubs in Italy, while St Mirren are keen on Kobayashi.

Celtic are also willing to listen to loan offers for Maik Nawrocki, who picked up an injury in pre-season.

It’s understood the Scottish champions will enter the market for a centre-back if they can offload their fringe players, with boss Brendan Rodgers preferring to work with a core four

 

Can't let Welsh go, because we have too much other dross needing shipped first?

Dirty smelly greedy bastatds need chased from the club.

Will be people struggling and working all the hours under the sun to go to games or buy their kids the endless line of strips etc.... and they put out this. Anyone defending the board at this point is either a hun or thick as * (same thing really).

 

Rodgers must be * fuming at this point.

3 and a half weeks left of the window and we’re weaker than we were last season.

It’s * scandalous.

The couple I’ve seen are Welsh not sold as we are assessing the centre back position and we are considering a second bid for Idah.

 

I am at the stage now where I think we are holding money back for this court case. If we sell o reilly and no replacement then that confirms it

 

It doesn’t really. We’ll be insured anyway.

 

It's something that I think a lot have assumed in part.
But it can't, surely, be to the tune of £100m?!?

Let alone the legal aspect of things, insurance etc may cover parts.
But wasn't it Chelsea a few years back got done for it and it was for a pittance in reality.

I think this board have been hoarding and scared to spend for far too long that it's ingrained to them now.
We just don't want to spend money in excess of what we have.
Their real success is saving money up, for some reason, rather than European success.
Domestic cleansweeps make them sleep at night.

Yeah I don't think it is that much I just cannot for the life of me understand how we have the squad we have at the moment. We are 2/3 injuries away from a crisis
