Not doubting we are in for those two players as well as Idah and Bernardo but surely left back must also be a priority? We have one senior left back who has a year left on his deal and has failed to agree terms on a new one so far. We have one promising academy player in Anderson and I would like to see him get a chance but to me it should be at the expensive of Taylor with a starting player signed.

On Balikwisha, I have a bad feeling he ends up elsewhere. We seem in the race to bring him in but he also seems to be being touted about, which I know will happen all the time but it is very public on this occasion. The other thing is he seems to be plan b or c for a lot of these clubs so if he isn’t that keen on a move to us he will likely not be here until the end of the window.

 

Think that Celticstar article is a little bit misleading. He didn't say we were only targeting two key players. They were just the two players that were name dropped by McGowan.

The actual article said "Brendan Rodgers expects Celtic to secure his key transfer targets before the end of the transfer window." I'd imagine a left back is one position we are actively looking at.

Guys seriously though i was raging up until the start of the week. McGowan has said we won't deviate away from the business model so it's £4m or under and with a potential resale value, all these £6m plus players we won't sign.

Lawwell as chairmen has also said we must keep cash for when we don't qualify for the UCL and we also have legal things going on the now and that's what the cash will be kept for. Brendan has now mentioned quality in previous 3 windows and today then goes back to "we can develop the players we have" it's a busted flush this window again!

 

You keep saying this about McGowan saying we won't deviate. When did he say it and is there a link to it ?

We should realistically be able to afford someone like that. Have to assume this is more tight-fistedness from the board. If the player seems the right fit and the fee isn’t absolutely exorbitant (and we know that Antwerp are in financial trouble, so it won’t be), we should get it paid.

The thing is Antwerp payed 5mil€ themself. I think they are looking to double that, according media here.
