£30m. Needs to be the fee.

He's worth too much to us. Why should we accept lower?

If they’re floating about the 17 million mark it wouldn’t surprise me on the slightest if he ends up there for around the 25 mark we’d be looking for IMO. Almost guaranteed to be with a large sell on into the bargain.

That's been my feeling from the start, something in the region of 25m, maybe a bit less with add ons, and a sell on that sees us taking in 30+ total for him in the longer term.

Celtic have a history of selling players for big fees and sources have revealed to TEAMtalk that they could receive a huge fee for midfielder Matt O’Riley this summer.

The Glasgow club’s sales of Kieran Tierney (£25m to Arsenal) and Jota (£25m to Al-Ittihad) broke records in Scotland and they look set to do so again if the Denmark international leaves

Sources have confirmed to TEAMtalk transfer correspondent Fraser (Fletcher) Gillan that O’Riley has interest from the Premier League, but Atalanta are pushing hard to get a deal done and are considered the big favourites to sign him.

Liverpool have also been linked with a move for the midfielder, who scored 19 goals and added 18 assists last season.

The Italian side have seen bids of around £16m rejected by Celtic but remain in talks over a summer transfer and are ready to launch an improved proposal.

We understand that Celtic are hoping for an overall package of around £26m for O’Riley, which is far off what Atalanta are offering.

However, that could be achieved by including add-ons and bonuses in the deal and the Europa League champions continue to push for a transfer

TEAMtalk sources have suggested O’Riley is keen on the move to Italy and has verbally given the green light to the move, should there be an agreement between clubs.

The sale would bolster Celtic’s already strong financial position at the top of the Scottish football pyramid.

O’Riley captained Celtic during their friendlies against D.C. United and Queens Park, as he felt honoured to do so despite the speculation surrounding his future

Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers has stated O’Riley “understands what a privilege an honour it is to play for the club.”

This tallies with TEAMtalk sources who state that the midfielder would never do anything to pressure or disrespect his employers and will keep giving 100% until he knows where his future lies.

I bet Southampton are watching very closely what Atalanta are bidding, waiting in the wings until there’s an agreement and then trying to swoop at the last moment to match the price. Best we don’t accept a low ball offer with high add ons, as the Premier League will come calling.

    £14m initial fee is laughable.

Not even in the ball park of what we can get for him even with sell on clauses. No way we should be selling O'Riley for anything less then a new record fee which means north of 25m.

Will be raging if we accept anything like that.

We need a deal of at least £25m with add ons > 30m for me to be happy. Surely the board see it that way too.

Don't see why they're even bothering entertaining these bids.

We won't get 30 mil for him, 20-25 mil tops would be more accurate i would think.

I think a good benchmark for a fee for O’Riley would be Matts Wiefers move to Brighton.

He is a year older and had a Europa league and Champions League campaign under his belt and around 60 games in the Dutch top flight. He is more of a defensive midfielder but in terms of a prospect a similar one to O’Riley. He went for €30m. He has been capped by Netherlands but didn’t make their Euros squad.

Given he is older, has less experience of first team football, less CL experience and is more a defensive player I would say O’Rileys fee would need to at least match that number to even be considered.

Brendan Rodgers insists Celtic are under no pressure to cash in on Matt O’Riley after another bid from Atalanta was booted into touch. writes Michael Gannon in America.

The Italians are pushing hard to land the playmaker with more than £15m currently on the table. Rodgers admitted every player has a price – but O’Riley won’t be allowed to go on the cheap. He said: “We’re all quite relaxed about it. Every player has a value but we see him as a really important player and while he’s here we’ll continue to develop him and improve. There’s no update. We’re fairly relaxed, you saw him in the game the onight.Eight.

He’s working well and is focus. Naturally when you’re a good young player who’s committed and professional as he is he will get attention. He’s working so well but there’s nothing to report on him I think we al understand the people close to Celtic understand the model Celtic works. Matt’s been at the club for three years he’s developed into the player he has and he knows the privilege it is to play for Celtic and of course naturally how it works is the player get that opportunity to move on. Celtic is a club where you can move on but you don’t have to and it’s a very difficult club to move on from.

But naturally with the wages that are on offer for players then that makes it a real challenge for Celtic to compete at that level. But what I’ve seen with Matt is he’s a first-class professional. He’s a really humble guy who’s really devoted to his profession and he knows what he has here.”

£25m is a minimum. I think we would take that and I think that is fair for him. If we get more, even better, but no chance should we be accepting less than £25m
