It's because many people from Silesian region ( a region in Poland sometimes claiming they are distinct nation, they have own language which remains german ) left for Germany because it was hard to live in comunistic country. So such german players as Podolski, Klose, Borowski have one or both polish parents. And it was theoreticaly possible to get them for polish squad.

    BTW
Do you know Andy Johnson from Crystal Palace? When he wanted to put pressure to get the England NT call, he said something about polish roots and that he wanted to play for Polish NT :)

Raphael Schaefer (Nurnberg) - Lukas Sinkiewicz (Koln), Michael Klukowski (FC Brugges), Chrisroph Dabrowski (Hannover) - Piotr Trochowski (HSV), Eugen Polanski (M'gladbach), Michael Delura (Hannover), Tim Borowski (Bremen) - Lukas Podolski (Koln), Andy Johnson (Crystal Palace), Tomasz Radzinski (Fulham)

All of them had Polish ancestors and all are playing for another country.

    Jonhson - England
    Klukowski, Radzinski - Canada
    other - Germany

    Sad but true.

Please, the poor guy got cought drinking one beer at the training hotel, and some other time a reporter took a picture of him having a beer on his own time, now he's labelled a drunk.
If that's a drunk, than I must be already dead from alcohol overdose and %80 of the people on the forum are well past being at the drunk stage.

Another guy you bhoys are forgetting about is Jakub Blaszczykowski (I hope I got his name right). He plays for Wisla, and is a promising talent, although injured at this point.

Jakub Blaszczykowski is the most talented young player in Poland. He is 19 and can play in defence(right) or midfield. He is really good player!

    Yes I've forgotten him.
    Blaszczykowski is very good.

I'm not saying that Burkhardt is often drunk. I'm only want tosay that he is wasting his talent. Why is he playing * right now?
