I know we’ve been guilty of it ourselves, but there’s haggling and then there’s wasting people's time.

Whether or not we ultimately get the £25-30 million we seem to be hoping for remains to be seen, but when you’re sending derisory offers that are significantly less than the alleged asking price, it’s hard to see it as anything other than: 1) An insult and/or 2) A * attempt to unsettle the player.

The current ‘negotiations’ should begin and end with them being told to either meet our asking price or not to bother contacting us again.

 

Wonder if the Atalanta forum is full of folk greeting that they're * about with O Riley.

 

Celtic negotiating with pretty much any Italian club would be a headache for all involved. They will nickel and dime, offer instalments, etc. Not as cash rich as some would think.

 

You’re talking about the guts of 15 million quid . It’s not even worth considering . I genuinely hope we keep him and sell next summer .

 

17m is outrageous, for their cheek it’s 50 million.

 

Think we can rule out a move to Serie A at this stage. Unless some EPL team or Atletico come back in then he'll still be here come the end of the transfer window.

 

I can’t see any viable PL moves atm either, not quite ready for the top top teams but then Newcastle/Villa level have brilliant midfields.

Praying he doesn’t sign for a Brentford or a Bournemouth.

The market seems a bit strange atm with no TV deal in France, PL watching for FFP and Saudi league trying to sign anyone who’s anyone.

 

We've not denied him a move though.

Let's be honest, he's worth nearly double what they're offering. We're not denying him anything here.

 

I remember last year when we sold Jota I felt sad to see him go but thought 25m would be great to see invested into the 1st team but we was all left dissapointed and he was not replaced with quality. We could argue that last season we had no real upgrades added to the 1st team.

Due to the lack of faith in the recruitment team I think we should do our best to keep him unless it's a offer that can't be refused. Most of it will just sit in the bank waiting for the next finance report anyway.

 

Hopefully he plays in the Champions League, shows how class he is, and leaves for a bigger club for huge money in January.

Don’t get me wrong, he’ll do great for Atalanta and will end up progressing to a huge club anyway, but doesn’t look like they’ll pay what we value him at.

The more this drags on the more hopeful I am of him staying until January. Hopefully Brendan’s had a chat with him and asked him would he be happy enough with staying until then if we don’t get our valuation then sell in jan

We sold Tierney for 25 years ago so there is no way MOR should go for less than that. And O'Riley is a much more important player than Tierney in terms of attacking threat.

 

Surely if Atalanta are trying to low ball us by offering €15-18m Euros a Southampton or a West Ham could swoop in and offer at least £20m (even though if he leaves for a penny less than £25m, it just shows how weak our board are).
