Not appreciated in a poor backline. No wonder his confidence will be shaky playing in the USA

Is CCV the best CB we have had since Johan Mjällby? What's you're guys opinion?

IMO he is and by quite some distance. Better for us than VVD was and much more consistant.

To be fair VVD did have Ambrose beside him.

Probably yes. VVD is the only one in the conversation. Both made defending look effortless. You could argue that VVD undoubtedly added more in attack, whether that was from dribbling out or presence in the opposition box.

I think VVD was a better player overall but CCV has been probably more solid for us over the piece, even if not as spectacular. So you'd say CCV edges it I think in terms of defensive performance specifically. It's close though, Virgil was a monster

I’d say vvd was better but I would say ccv is more crucial to our team as when vvd was here the league was a given but ccv makes us look a whole better team

Absolutely love CCV, most important player at our club today and an absolute stand out v current crop.

But that's also an indicator of how far standards have fallen
CCV should be the normal standard of our first team, not the exception.

He’s an absolutely outstanding defender and if he’s not showing that for the US that’s a US problem not a CCV one, of that I can cast iron guarantee.

He’s handled world class Champions League level strikers, the American fans slagging him are * clueless and should stick to egg throwing and baseball.

Same retards thought Giakoumakis would be a * signing for Atlanta ….. he then rips it up in that league they prematurely * and act like they never wrote him off … he then moves on and they say oh well he was injury prone any yank fan that doesn’t have a link to Celtic are just as bad as English fans superiority complex

He had a terrible tournament tbf. Doesn't help when he's coming off the bench though

He only played 45 minutes in the tournament. In a game where they were already down to 10 men.

    See he's heading home now.

Mind you the goal they lost, guy is miles offside, lol, can only presume they don't use VAR in Copa.

They do use var and it deemed the guy was onside. Whether he was or was not it was extremely tight. What matters as far as I am concerned though is CCV is done with the US team and is injury free and will be back in with us soon enough now.

On an aside I got a good laugh from the post game scenes especially Pulisic the US captain going after the ref and gesturing that he should be over there with the Uruguay team celebrating.

I don’t get criticism like this, heavy weird.

He played 45 mins as already said, when down to 10 men.

So he’s already in an unfamiliar system, playing for a coach who’s already under huge pressure. 10 men changes the system further and he’s thrown into that mid game. Yet he “had a terrible tournament”.

    Get a grip.
