    Honestly I think he's around a £4m striker. £5m I'd pay at a stretch.

    He's absolutely not worth £9m

So a recent example of a player isn't good enough and an example of a player who is younger and potentially better of transfering this very window is also not good enough?

You waiting for me to dig out a random name from Serbia, Slovakia, Sweden, Norway, etc so that you can then claim it would cost X amount regardless?

You've been given two names already, I'll repeat though, it's not mine nor anyone on this forum(as far as we know) professional job to find these players and make the relevant contact to get that true valuation.

I find it weird though that some fans seem to think the going rate for our second choice(or backup, alternative option, call it what you want), is 8-9m pound and have no questions about that.
By that logic, we won't be signing any other strikers in the future for less than whatever Idah eventually goes for?

Like most, I'll repeat again, if Rodgers wants him I'll back that. I don't think he's personally worth the 8-9? It seems Norwich are holding out for, but if that's what it costs then Celtic need to just get on with that. Because clearly negotiating isn't working at all here.

It won't be a "waste" of money buy by * you can get a helluva lot better for less than 8m.

I think some supporters have forgotten what a difference Idah made for us last season. Initially I wasn't too keen on him coming here either, hearing how the Norwich fans viewed him and remembering the couple of times I'd seen him play, but he did a great job for us. He was a massive factor in our good end-of-season form which took us away from sevco to win the title. In fact it's not too far-fetched to say we might not have won the title had he not been here. The big plus with Idah is that when it's not happening for Kyogo we can bring him on and it's a totally different game for the defenders. They can't physically dominate Adam as they can with the wee man, he usually dominates them in fact. This made a huge difference in some of those matches last season. Some fans are saying we can get better for the money being asked but Idah is big and strong, has decent pace, finishes well with his feet and head and although his technique isn't Messi-like it's still at an acceptable level. Plus he's proved he can do it for us. I reckon Norwich would accept £7M and personally I would pay it. We have the money and we know we'd be getting a player who can do the business for us.

Who says he will be a second choice striker?

I love Kyogo but it was clear for all to see that Idah suited Rodgers system far more than Kyogo. Idah is 23, Kyogo is now 29. At different parts of their career now.

So your example is sign a player who has already just been transferred this window to a new club , if you dont see the problem/flaw in that logic.. I cant really help you here.
The bolded, I agree wholeheartedly and perhaps folk should bear that in mind, especially when they start spouting off about being 100% sure on anything, like they know better, when they clearly don’t. For example I’d not be so sure as to assume he will be 2nd choice but hey ho you’ll know better i guess.

The other, ironic, thing is the ones moaning and saying he isnt worth the money are the very ones consistently moaning about us not spending money.. a real example of heads i win tails you lose.

Ah seen you've just proved in your post that you aren't picking up what I'm meaning at all.

100% I know and have proven you can sign talent that is less than the reported 8-9m quoted by Norwich.

I'm NOT saying to sign the guy who has just transferred, I'm using him as a factual example of someone who literally cost less, so factually I am 100% correct in saying you can 100% find a striker of a similar/younger age with a similar/better scoring rate than Idah for less.

If I give you a random name from a club, where the player has done well the last two seasons but hasn't transferred, all you will do is claim he will cost the same or more than Idah, or that we can't know for sure what the value would be. So you've been given a name that factually proves the talent is out there for a better price.

There is a difference between the usual 1-3m spent on projects and being fleeced by Norwich for 9m.

Perhaps somewhere in the middle would be nice if anyone at the club could do the task of finding them.

You'll also find, myself and almost everyone else, is happy to spend the originally suggested 5m on the guy, which is fair and would be an increase in our usual spending for this sort of player.

We just have a limit of being conned by Norwich and how much of a risk we put in Idah to constantly hit form.

It's completely different playing for Celtic every single week where you're up against low blocks virtually every game. Idah proved he could do it here.

Arezo played 33 games for Granada in La Liga 2 and scored one goal.

As a young potential striker. Hence I used his season before stats.
Idah literally could go the same way. If anything his 6 months here was a bit out the blue, who knows what version we get next season? Hence most see the value of 8-9m being too much of an outlay for the risk factor.

    Oh I have.
And the lad you 100% think is better, is at best debatable.
If you were half as good as you think you are you’d already be a scout/negotiator for a Club.

Don't think I'm half as good, hence I'm not a scout

But anyone can surely accept you can scout and find better than Idah for less than 8-9m.

That's literally the short of the argument here from me.
We can do better for less.
I accept the manager wants him, I'm happy to sign him, but like others, believe we shouldn't pay as much as being demanded.

If it does need to be 8-9m though, even 7m, then my next point is just to get that done already if it's truly the one striker Rodgers wants over all others. Why waste the summer entirely, when we know they aren't budging in value.

2 goals in 16 games season 19/20 when he first broke through.
3 goals in 17 season 20/21 in the championship.
1 goal in 21 season 21/22 season back in the prem.
3 goals in 27 games 22/23 season in championship again.
7 goals in 34 games first half of 23/24 season with Norwich in the championship.
9 goals in 19 games with us second half of 23/24.

Last season, specially with us aside, he's not done very much at all to warrant 9m.
5m is actually very fair, he's 23 currently and will be 24 during the coming season. He isn't a youngster any more, this is when he should be hitting form.
There is a good chance, last season was his turning it around time, but saying that, even Norwich didn't rate him with those 7 goals at all.

It's not hard to understand why some of us have reservations about being dragged along by Norwich to eventually have to pay over the odds anyway.

For that 5-9m range, you 100% can get better.

Sign him, he done well, but there is a massive risk with him still. One some of us would rather came at less of a financial risk.

This is going round in circles now, you obviously have a higher opinion of your abilities than are justified. This happens when folk give off about being 100% sure when that’s simply not possible/the case but crack on. The bolded, no we absolutely do not know that at all.
