Celtic are in talks with Aston Villa to sign keeper Viljami Sinisalo.

Sky Sports News understands the Hoops want to bring the Finland international in as back-up and to be mentored by the incoming Kasper Schmeichel.

Sky Sports News revealed in May that the Hoops were interested in Sinisalo this summer.

The 22-year-old spent last season on loan at Exeter City.

It's been slow and painful so far, but this would change it up if we get all this plus idah and Bernardo before the USA trip.

Would be sensational to have that sorted.

Cup keeper and a clear succession plan.

One is the league one is all cup games including European games if must.

Alternatively, we start with KS for the first month and look to bed this lad in, give him a few games and see how he does. If he looks good, KS is the cup keeper and this lad does the league.
Come summer, KS position is backup.

Both keepers need to come in with this plan laid out though, expectations and what happens in a given situation.

This I like, would be great to get him and Kasper in, young fella has a year or two to learn from a great goalie and bed in to the way of life up here for us before stepping up to takeover, all the while keeping Bain as a homegrown backup until Josh Clarke is older.

Seen a post on twitter that had an interview with him naming Kasper Schmeicel as his goalkeeping idol and who he thought he played most like … funny how that’s played out if true

 

Nice to see the positivity however doesn’t look brilliant in the videos I’ve seen. Also looks very small and slim.

Celtic are set to confirm their signing of Viljami Sinisalo on a five-year deal this week.

The Finnish goalkeeper, 22, is poised to put pen to paper on a contract at Parkhead after the Hoops agreed a fee with Aston Villa. Football Scotland understands the Scottish champions will be around £1million for the stopper after negotiations took place over the weekend. Sinisalo is expected to complete his medical tests and be confirmed in the coming days as Brendan Rodgers locks in the signing before the USA trip.
