We're never replacing oriley. What we need to do is upgrade other positions such as LB, cb, another guy with potential to develop like oriley in the long term (2 seasons) and a quality winger. Do that and it'll help put goals through the team and be less reliant on him.

I'd love an attacking midfielder who happens to be ace at defending aswel. Dreams eh. Looking forward to a few more projects we can fool ourselves with for a while.

I'd argue we are set at LW. Maeda is a polarizing player, but BR seems to love his game. Palma provides cover off the bench. The two of them complement each other. Maeda's strengths are Palma's weaknesses and vice versa. For the record, we also have Mikey. Not sure whether BR wants to give him yet another chance.

Aye for me we need a right winger more than a left..

I want Kvistgaarden but I wanted him as a versatile 3rd type option up front but covered the wings as well. Doesn't look like that'll happen so ideally would like a lefty off the right to open up defences and give us better balance and creativity. Kuhn doesn't look up to it. Yang isn't. Forrest isn't the man for the season..

I'm content with the left. Maeda does what he does and has come on to a game and think Palma has shown enough to know he's got the ability..

Not at all. Both ‘do a job’, but neither are the first XI LW we need for Europe.

However, as @McChiellini.. says, we definitely do need a ready-made left-footed RW as well. Kühn will probably do as the main alternative in that role.

I'd argue Maeda is exactly the type of ''first XI LW we need for Europe''. Not so much for domestic games against inferior opposition, but that's why we got Palma as well.

We need to sign a first choice right winger, then we can bring in a deadline day loan of a young kid who can play LW

Yeah left wing has room for improvement but it's not too bad. We've got absolutely nothing on the right other than hoping an ageing Forrest can carry us down that flank for an entire season and that's where we don't want to be when the transfer window shuts.

Never going to replace him but could still upgrade the midfield with either a powerful box to bid type or a proper defensive midfielder.

I fully expect Hatate to play the more advanced of the 3 this season. If you could complement him with a powerful box to box cm or alternatively have Mcgregor back in his more natural role with a good dm behind them than that's still a very strong midfield even without MOR

Aye we don't need a LW, at all imo.

Maeda was fantastic during the last few months of the season, looked a completely new player, and Palma was excellent early season and he isn't someone I'd be giving up on.

We 100% need a RW. Yang needs loaned out, jury is out on Kuhn and Forrest, whilst he was great, isn't someone we can rely on for an entire season.

    Not for me.

Get where you're coming from but Maeda still frustrates the life out of me.

We need some players there with flair. We still haven't replaced Jota and that needs to be the aim. As hard as it may be.

I want a RW and LW.

Maeda, Palma, Kuhn, RW, LW. They don't both need to come in and be first team ready, but ar least one of them would need to be. My concern comes largely from not trusting Palma or Kuhn.

Forrest will play when required but should finally be there as a proper squad player.

Come on: ‘exactly’ what we need for Europe? Really? I get that he’s fast and hard-working - but then so are a lot of players. His first touch is typically honking, and we can’t afford that in any of our forward players in Europe. He also needs an unusual amount of chances in order to score. Won’t get that in the CL. His bad miss vs Real in 2022 is a perfect case in point.

At that level of football, he really walks a tightrope between ‘quick and intense’ and ‘hasty and messy’. Just because we need the former, it doesn’t mean that we have to put up with the latter.

I can’t believe you think Maeda cuts it at that level tbh. We’ve all seen for ourselves. He’s great vs the Huns, but that’s his ceiling.

Maeda would be in my team every week. You have to earn the right to win games of football, that goes for against anyone. His pressing sets the tone for us. He makes it hard for his opponent to play out, which means we can turn over possession. He does have quality, it just evades him too often.

Even if we somehow acquired Jota and prime McGeady / Sinclair / you name it, we could still not outplay the likes of Real Madrid / Man City / PSG / Bayern Munich, etc. Our best bet is to outrun them. Yes, Maeda is exactly what we need in Europe. Feel free not to like him. It seems that BR loves his game. We both know he'll be a regular starter next season, barring injuries.

Club is now being negligent in terms of getting players in. We still need a keeper, and after cooing about spending £ms on top European keepers we are now looking at a 38 year old on a free. I'm actually fine with this, but we should have done this week's ago. We also need a Left back and have done for some time. Not a peep from the club a out this. Unless Rodgers is going to promote one of the youth players. We also need to strengthen overall. Strong competition for Kyogo needs to come in. The Idah situation is an absolute joke and typical Celtic penny pinching. We know the feeling, pay it and get him in so he can have a full pre season. Similarly with Bernardo. Ridiculous.

We all know how this goes. Schmeichal will come in with a fan fare and distraction from not signing other players and then we will sign a couple of last minute gems or projects and we will all sigh with disappointment. Again. Our board has never went out and brought real quality from a position of strength. When was the last time we signed a real Marquee player? Probably Sinclair.

The most worrying thing for me is no sign (not even rumours) of a replacement for Taylor or Scales. The thought of starting a new campaign with those two as first choice and the definite possibility of having a midfield without MOR scunners the life out of me.
