Meanwhile, a bid of £4.5m for Norwich City striker Adam Idah, who also spent part of last season on loan at Celtic, has already been turned down.

With Celtic poised to rake in a similar fee from the sale of South Korean striker Oh Hyeon-gyu to Belgian club Genk, further talks have taken place despite English Championship side Norwich maintaining they have yet to receive an offer for Ireland cap Idah that is likely to trigger a serious conversation.

 

So looks like we're using the OH fee to balance out this signing. Trying to break even with a £100m sitting there. Absolute penny pinching, tin pot mentality.

 

Aye but we can't spend too much incase we don't win the league and get into Europe so we are saving for a rainy day.

Even tho if we do spend we can pull miles clear of the huns and in theory increase our chances of chances of making and doing more than being whipping boys in the CL.

We really do operate with the mentality of a tiny club.

I prefer to look at it another way, even though I admit it’s hard to disagree with you.

I don’t think it’s necessarily about the money. I think Rodgers wants to lower the number of players we have in the squad. So, focussing more on getting players out the door instead of getting them in. I have no doubt we are in talks with multiple players, with our bids for Bernardo and Idah been rejected and close to an agreement for a Hart replacement.

We had 34 players on our books last season, we need to lower the number of players we have in the squad, while simultaneously increasing the quality we have. It may take us some time. The only players that have left so far have been Hart, who retired and Tilio, who had his loan extended. We still have so many players we need to move on.

It’s a balancing act we are going to have to try and get used to over the next couple of windows. We can’t do it all at once. It may be the case we sacrifice a position until we know we can get players in the position shifted.

 

If we are selling oh then someone must be coming in either idah or maybe someone else and interesting that the Aberdeen striker miovski wasn't in the squad today so he could be on the move.

This has been the play all along, and it finally looks as though we will see our work in this transfer window come to play now...

 

I think there's a lot of truth I that to be honest but it's yet another part of business were we do it poorly.

We should be far more forceful in making it clear to the ones that arnt wanted to get to *.

Guys like Kobayashi, Oh, Kwon, Lagerbielke should be nowhere near pre season games and certainly nowhere near that flight to America.

Them and their agents should be told in no uncertain that they are not part of the plans and until they find themselves a suitable move they will be training with the u18s

 

It's good business and making sure we get a body out that isn't in the plans for a player we really want in..

I've zero doubts Idah will be signed in the next week..

 

Still.think we'd be overpaying foe him, anything over £3.5m is bad business.

Would prefer Miovski myself.

He's pretty mediocre as an instinctive striker, pretty poor at balls across face of goal, never seemed ready for unexpected.
