We'd all have liked our business done already or had some close to completion but as long as the right ones come in....I'll be fine with that..

We're getting to the cutting it fine stage with 3 weeks to go and for what I think we need but..

I'm still hopeful we'll have a good window overall but aye I'd definitely have wanted some moment by now with a keeper and left back for starters..

Want that pace and power he mentioned when he first came in and hopefully some nice surprises..

 

I reckon it’ll be close to what you’re saying, albeit the quality may be a shock. I’d imagine it’ll look like:

• Jensen/Dubravka
• Rojas
• LB (as you mentioned, not many links)
• Idah
• Bernardo
• CB
• MF (to replace O’Riley)

I think we need a winger too but can’t see that happening. Hopefully can get rid of Oh, Lagerbielke, Nawrocki (loan?), Yang (loan?), Siegrist, Mikey and all the other deadwood we have sitting around.

 

Given Liverpools history of ripping teams off for their academy graduates and the rumours of then wanting £8m for Nat Phillips I'd reckon Beck would be outwith our current financial limitations

 

The moving parts I was meaning more negotiation wise.

Say (for example) our budget for transfers is £20m.

Rodgers wants 5 players.

Wants Idah, Norwich want £8m. Leaves us with £12m.

We negotiate to £6m, leaves us with £14m.

That extra £2m negotiated from that sale could go a helluva ways toward us signing a better/higher calibre player(s) than we would have had to go for with £12m left.

And again, can we get players out the door for cash before we start buying players - who knows.

These guys negotiating deals/setting up transfer budgets arent stupid, lets not beat about the bush. Of course they can do better in our eyes, but i think working under the models amd restrictions that we do, not one or very few of us shouting this n that n "lawwell oot" could negotiate muhammed from corner shop 10p aff a tin a beans ffs...

 

Surely with cash in bank he must have about £30m to start with then whatever we get from sales.

 

We've got cash in the bank, we know this because they gleefully brag it in AGM meetings.

What's NOT apparent is what this reservoir of funds is set aside for (although I think we can guess Barrowfield, Roof/Repairs, Transfer Funds, general float all part of it).

As an aside, I was past CP the other day - they've actually started overpainting the "scaffolding" at the front, would have been nice to have seen it done in white or greem but it's grey again (at least it's better than the steampunk/rust!)

In a way though, it's best not to disclose what our transfer budget is, that way other clubs know exactly what we can spend and will be able to upmark their players' prices if/when we come calling.

 

Transfer window shuts in 52 days, still need 5 or 6 quality first team starters.

Better start upping the pace soon.

Yeah definitely a * sight better, but again would have been beautiful done in green or white, but obviously went with the cheaper option

 

I was and am calm. I don't know why you'd think otherwise. Beck is laughably overrated by a good few Celtic supporters who have based him being the answer to our LB problems on nothing more than a half-decent showing at Dens park last year. Towards the end of the January transfer-window the clamour and desperation for him to be brought in as our new LB was ridiculous given the actual ability of the lad.

 

What we need and what we'll get are two different things. I wouldn't get your hopes up.

 

Sleepwalking again, 3 weeks and 5 days or something till the season starts and we are worse than last season a season in which we were * and understrength

 

I seen that on SSN yesterday. I thought I'd been spiked for a moment. Surely nobody will touch him at that sort of price but apparently Trabzonspor have already offered £4M which is about £3.5M more than he's actually worth.

 

Yeah I'm expecting another poor window, no doubt about it in my mind.

 

To me the really worrying thing isn't that we've got nobody in yet it's more that we don't even seem to know WHO we want to sign which, given how long we've known we need a new GK and LB, is especially poor.

 

I'm not really fussed if I don't hear who we're supposedly interested in. I'd be disappointed if we didn't strengthen the areas we need to but the majority of the stories posted on here and elsewhere really seem to have no substance to them. Tabloids and agents literally just make stuff up.

Just hoping and expecting there's work going on behind the scenes and we'll announce some in due course, along with Bernardo and Idah.
