Can see Peter Lawwell saying no to this due to the wages, He would prefer another project who would cost £2 million from Europe and on about £5 grand a week than take a punt on an experienced international player who is a free agent.

A fair assumption, however I don’t see many links with other teams interested in offering him a deal.

The point was only to suggest if he wanted the deal done with Celtic it would be naive of him and his agent expecting us to pay wages in that bracket.

He will know fine well the ceiling of what you can earn in Scotland. Not even sure any of our top performers are near 40k which adds to my surprise.

I don’t mind the idea of him signing but not at that salary.

 

He has been given and is deserving of more praise than “he gives his all”.

Its just complete nonsense that he us “nowhere near it” when came in and and was a solid and steady defender for a large part of the season.

We can and should look to bring in better, but again theres a complete disrespect towards Scales from our own support.

 

Rumour is he wants more than the 30k he was on at forest because their no fee …. Possibly pricing himself out of a move with us and rangers who have both spoken to agent

I know he's been given more praise than that, my point is that sort of praise only really gets used when a player isn't good enough.

 

He hasn't exactly improved much since his time at Aberdeen. Go look at the old thread and you'll see the amount of people who just go along with the opinion of the day. Guarantee loads of the names in here were 100% against signing him before

I’d imagine he was earning double, if not triple that at Forrest.

I like him and think he’d be a really good signing but I think what he’d be looking for in wages will be outwith what we’re willing to pay him.

 

He was on about 15k in the championship and 25k in the premiership apparently. He wants more now because he's a free, whether he gets it is another matter.

 

Hopefully he gets what he wants somewhere outside of Glasgow.

Would never have been on 60k at any stage.

Think a few folk have a warped idea on wages in other leagues.
Outside the obvious clubs and the obvious players, a lot of folk will be surprised at how low the wages can be at times. Much more comparable to what we can pay. We just can't pay the odd few stupid levels.

McKenna certainly would want more than we would traditionally offer a player of his level though.
He'd be pegged around the 15k mark for us, he'd be able to get more than that elsewhere.
